I'd prefer it if they moved the arches up on that 240. Stretched and tucked tyres are horrible

Thought it was the Volvo I've seen on Rollhard's IG. That Benz on air still kicking about?

ps I like that a lot.

Sort the arches out and you wouldn't need horrible stretch.

BRM, are you spending all that cash on the B series or putting something else in?
Because if you are planning custom fuel injection anyway there must be any number of rusty cheap Rover 820s with a good strong 16 valve motor that will bolt straight in to the existing gearbox and engine mounts. 140bhp as standard with potential for a lot more. There was a longitudinal version in the Discovery with an inlet manifold facing the right way. (They used the FWD version in the Morgan with a long trunking going round to the front.)If you mean the K Series, it's a ballache in an MGB. Crossmember choppy-choppy and firewall too. I am not doing that shit. Add a gearbox and driveshaft (and radiator, poss diff, etc) and you still have a rubber bumper mgb. the zetec is supposed to be the easiest to get in a b.
I've looked at the options and for what i am doing you wouldn't even get a half arsed engine swap that you'd just want to spank more cash on or a budget v8 swap. i'd rather keep this because i like it and get a bmw 2002 to go silly on.

God no, not a K series.
M16 or T16
Couple of bits off an O series Sherpa, inlet manifold off a Dicovery MPi (or a long bit of hose) and an LT77 or R380 gearbox. Fits right in. -

My car is a fucking headache at the moment.
After Brands Hatch the list of things needing sorting were brake pads, discs, a cam cover bolt after I torqued one too much and snapped it, and a new dipstick as the handle on the old one snapped.
The pads were ordered ASAP, I got a sweet price on Carbotech XP8s direct from Carbotech Europe. I couldn't fit them straight away as they have a more complex bedding in procedure and the standard discs are lipped and would need replacing too. I thought why not upgrade those too, so I ordered Nitrac 8 grooved discs from Motorsport World. Knowing how Nitrac works - they cryogenically freeze the discs, I knew there would be a lead time. MSW rang and left a voicemail when I ordered on 30/04 to let me know this and if there was a problem, to ring back. I didn't ring back as it wasn't a problem. Fast forward to Monday, they haven't turned up yet so I email them asking if they're going to be much longer. I get a response nearly 24 hours later telling me as I didn't ring them back to say the lead time was OK, they didn't get processed. This wasn't mentioned in the voicemail. If I still want the discs, they won't get them back from Nitrac until 23/05 on this run. I need the car on 24/05 to go to a wedding, and for once both my mum and dad's cars are unavailable.
So I do what I should have done in the first place, and ring Nitrac directly. I've completely forgotten that like Carbotech, they sponsored my friend in Time Attack, and over the last few years they've used a variety of my photos on their website. Alan is wonderfully helpful but ultimately their offer is the same as MSW. The next run will finish on 22/05 ready for shipping on 23/05. He gives me a nice discount which makes Saturday next day delivery slightly less eye watering to ensure they arrive on 24/05, but he also promises that if at all possible that they can send them on the evening of 22/05 - after they have cooled sufficiently from tempering - then he will and refund the difference between next day and next day Saturday.
I haven't even had time to take the cam cover back off to replace the 200 mile old gasket and have a look to see if the bolt has sheared above the head line and is easier to replace than having to drill it out of the head (ballache). On that front, nobody sells the specific cam cover bolt I need brand new, MX5 Parts have finally delivered a new one that was on back order that arrived yesterday, but it's an older style. Compatible, but will look totally different - not that big a deal. Before that arrived I didn't know how long it would take to come off back order, so I ordered a variety of used ones from breakers and eBay which all came quickly, but they're in varying condition and I don't know how reliable any of them are.
The dipstick is still on back order, no idea when that will come. The current one is still serviceable but it's slippery and annoying.
Now I'm in this awesome position that even if I get the cam cover bolt sorted, and the gasket replaced, if the discs don't arrive on Friday, I'm going to have to have the car ready to fit discs on Saturday morning, and if they don't arrive by about 11:00, leave the car on axle stands, and get a train to Cheltenham.

I was there last year: Oudenaarde. Apparently that's not the real car, I was told by someone who should know. Lovely though.

Are standard pads cheap enough?
If so why not get some, fit them with the existing discs and you at least have a car that will do for the weekend. Then fit the shiny stuff next week.My car is a fucking headache at the moment.
