I was stopped for a RLJ recently, police didn't give a fuck about the bike I was riding or any sort of check on it. If it became common practice to check bikes match owners whenever someone is stopped and also make shops check bikes whenever they come in(even for a puncture) bike theft would die overnight, nobody would buy a bike that might be stolen knowing full well that the first time they go into a bike shop and/or are stopped for anything the bike would be taken off them.
