Could be a fun summer after all
Bit overboard maybe?
What if we could have groups stationed at each market on the Saturday and Sunday - Bricklane, Walthamstow, Borough. When a blatantly stolen bike is spotted take a photo of it and post it on twitter with a short description and hashtag (#bikestakeout or similar).
Collectively anyone anywhere can browse this hashtag, and flag it up if they spot their bike. The group in that vicinity can then commandeer it until the owner and/or police turn up "sorry mate but we're taking this - it's stolen and the police are one their way".
Minimum teams of 4 for each market, but the more the better. Bring Tyskies, get pissed and obnoxious, fuck up their business - but keep it civil and in public. If done right who knows how many bikes could be recovered? At the very least it would send a message.
