Perhaps it's the arrogant PL clubs that consider participating in Europe a nuisance or are they just being bitter for missing out on a CL spot

No jaw. Maybe that s because other european leagues are so stitched up, that EL teams are fully resigned to that being all can get?
Many see it as a joke...just like the governing bodies do: Changing to the league system, weird rules regarding odd numbers of games, parachuting CL failures in randomly and little financial recompense even for the winners is why it's disliked. They've only just seen the light by offering a CL place to the winners.

Make it start with a league then go pure knock out and it gets love.
