I really want to solve the rear wheel enigma... I spoke with a lot of people but nobody knows what I can actually do, why did I study art instead of engineering? :(
100mm is not weird - it is almost exactly the standard British spacing for single fixed - four and a quarter inches!
Perhaps Francesco was intending to use Airlite hubs - he could have done a lot worse.
So I think your difficulty is simply that you are over metricated!
(Of course, I do realise you may have a problem with chain line.)
**Where to use it.
**Well, you could join the Hounslow - our club track record for the Hour is just short of 25 miles and therefore *looks *beatable. It was done at Palmer Park Track, Reading. No one would object to this machine there.
This record was set a couple of years ago by Nic Stagg, the previous record was only a few hundred yards less and was the work of Bob Garlinge at Paddington as long ago as 1969. Our Rob Gilmore is threatening to have a go this year, so it's currently an active area as these things go.
I don't have the exact figures to hand, but I can get them if you're interested.
