Yup, going Novatec for sure. In same predicament as Chris. I've had nothing but trouble from the Miche hub.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one struggling with Miche hubs, their measuring seems to be way off. The fixed/fixed hub should offer up a 42mm chain line either side according to Miche, I have a 40mm chain line one side and 39/8mm maybe the other side. One side has been rendered useless, currently running 2x 1mm spacers and a Surely 17t sprocket which seems to be ok but by no means perfect. I'll get on the hunt for some Novatecs, cheers!

It's a pain really. While the chainset seems like it doesn't sit flush against the BB, it actually gives a perfect chainline. I'm using the single sided one and it's way off regardless of spacers, it's always completely off. I don't think the sprocket I'm using helps either. The square profile seems to suck the chain in somehow. I don't really understand the technicals as other people, but despite process of elimination, it's the Miche hub that seems to cause problems.
Try here first, super cheap Novatecs if they have the drilling/colour combination you want
Did Novatec ever do any of their hubs with hex nut option?

Most of them have hex nuts, so I'm guessing you mean bolt-on, like this:
www.bdopcycling.com have them, and the conversion axles to change from hex nuts to bolt on or vice versa

Yup, that's it. Even better then what I was looking for to improve already great hubs. Much appreciated.

Hey there,
I thought this issue would fit in this thread.Originally, I ran the regular Sram Omnium cranks with default Sram BB. After several thousand km, I'd want to upgrade to a better one. So I got the Chris King GXP (road); this version: http://www.bike24.de/1.php?content=8;navigation=1;menu=1000%2C4%2C23;product=36500;lang=2 (BBB4R)
The problem after installing is the following:
- Spider hits the chainstay
- Overall much play in almost "any direction", even when the crank bolt is torqued completely -> there is a very noticable gap between the external cups and the crank arm
Can I fix this by using spacers, somehow? It seems like the spindle is "too long" with the new BB, so the crank won't get into place. The Sram default cups were noticably wider though than the Chris King's. Didn't know that before purchasing.
Here is a picture of this damn thing: http://i.imgur.com/MSfUpHO.jpg
Running a Cinelli Mash.Cheers!

does the CK not come with the correct spacers? AFAIK it should do
-
• #187
Ya. I think there should have been some stepped spacers or something similar in there.

This is how I received it from the shop I ordered from, plain BB, nothing more really.
I'd say because it's already the "Sram GXP road" version, there are no spacers included. The CK BB you linked is "universal" I think, because you can convert Shimano CK BB to Sram GXP ones.
The spacer set can be bought separately: http://www.excelsports.com/main.asp?page=8&description=SRAM+Bottom+Bracket+Conversion+Kit&vendorCode=KING&major=1&minor=6 -

Ok, I sent an email to King and they said I need stepped axle road bb with mnium. Will see this week if King was right.
-
• #190
I thnk all the King BBs are all the same, they ust come with the right spacers for the job, and if looks like yours had none
-
• #191
I might still have some spacers that came with my GXP BB that I could send to you if you want?

Thanks for your offer Pifko, but I'm from Germany, so not in the UK currently :|
I'm gonna take it to the LBS and ask them for a solution. Maybe they got some matching CK spacers in stock.
Or do you think some generic Shimano Hollowtech II spacers or similar would work just as well? -

I would email bike24 clone. The adapters should have been included in your order IMO

so yours CK bb goes perfectly with omnium the way you got it right?
Hi,
so you said CK recommended you the "stepped axle road bb" to go with the Omnius. Yeah, I think I own this one. By now, it doesn't fit, as I'll need to use spacers most likely. I can't get it tight at the moment. Can't ride it like that.I would email bike24 clone. The adapters should have been included in your order IMO
Yep, could be. I'm gonna send them an email now. On the one hand, I was a bit worried, because there weren't even instructions sent with it (okay, the Nm is written on the cups on all that stuff, but....). On the other hand, I could think of this particular "road version" being sent out without spacers, as it's supposed to fit on Road Frames only. It is written in the instruction PDF on the CK website that 68mm road frames should use it without spacers (recommended).
We'll see.

Some updates!
Bike24 replied to my inquiry and said that they sent me the right model (Sram road), which apparently doesn't come with spacers (hmmmmmm) ["Road bike BBs usually don't come with spacers"].
Okay, so I visited two bike shops and both said that this particular CK BB would not fit my Sram Omnium, as I have play/clearance in any direction on the NONDRIVESIDE. Basically just as if you'd try to use the CK Shimano BB with a TAPERED Sram spindle: it won't work! Both also believed that this wouldn't even be the "Sram road" version... Because my CK BB also lacks this typical Sram tooth cap: http://r2-bike.com/bilder/produkte/gross/Truvativ-SRAM-GXP-Specialized-OSBB.jpg I mean, the Omnium stock BB has that and it fits on the spindle perfectly on the NONDRIVESIDE.
I think I need a CK BB which comes at least with this toothcap... as an indicator that it could work out :D
Not even sure if I can return my CK BB now as it has some visible marks left from the installation & deinstallation (using my old stock BB again ... for now) -_____- -

bike24 are wrong, get onto them
-
• #198
^This. They don't know what they are talking about and are false advertising the BB.
-
• #199
I think they are misunderstanding 'spacers'. MTB BBs usually come with two 2.5mm thick cup spacers to allow use in 73mm shells without spacers or 68mm shells with spacers. The thing you need in a BB with Shimano sized bearings to make it work with GXP axles is more a shim than a spacer. This is the Hope one, presumably the CK one is much the same

The CK GXP adapter is a bit weird - you get a drive side axle spacer with it, too.

Why use a CK 24mm BB anyway? Nothing wrong with standard GPX and they are peanuts to replace.
