    First off, do you need an inbuilt light meter? This makes quite a big difference in your price range and options (in built meters add a chunk but so does buying a light meter if you don't have one, although I'm told the smart phone apps work rather well)
    You also need to decide what format you want - 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7 etc.

    Personally I reckon just getting going with anything is a good start. I was given my RB67 and it wouldn't have been my first choice at all really but I've come to love it (despite its hefty size). I've also only come to know what I want from a medium format camera through shooting on the one I have.
    In short, just get something and start shooting, you'll be able to sell it on anyway if you decide you want something different.
