Just found all the Classic lightweight build pages on here, its made me really happy! cracking idea to do a ride as well.
Tentative in from me though. I would love to do this but I need to do some work on my Elsegood's rear wheel or sort out the 4 speed hub on the Super Lenton.
Would feel odd using the Elsegood too as although its a 50's frame, its running a modern(ish) group set........
- 7VEN (1947 Hobbs of Barbican)
- dicki ( viking severn valley c. 1962 )
- mattioats (Raleigh Professional, April 1979)
- keanulooser (the poor relative, only if I'm allowed - Raleigh Medale, circa late 70's, early 1980s? 5 speed. Only approx 5 years younger than me)
- ElGato (mid 50's Major Bros)
- Luckyskull (a old bike of some type) 99% sure i will come
- Hefty (1985 Vitus)
- bothwell (1980-something BaCo)
- Ecobeard (1952 Super Lenton or the Elsegood)

I don't have a 'classic lightweight'. But I might come along on my Mercian, which is a '76, and mostly 70s parts.Oh dear I'm busy. -

Would be great to have you there Ecobeard. One of the best build threads and feel good stories on LFGSS I reckon.

Cheers, I still cant belive Alan found the thread while randomly searching his dads name!
Will definetly have to get at least one bike sorted for this.
Now to start negociations with Mrs 'Beard and make sure someone can look after the club run that morning....

7VEN: It goes without saying that it's a non-drop affair.
What does this mean? Not dropping the bike? Not dropping out the run? Or no drop handlebars? Only my bike is a racer.....with drop handlebars and the old kind of unsafe brakes....Hi KL,
A no drop ride means that the group stays together... and no one gets left on their own i.e we ride at the pace of the slowest person. -

Sorry I'm out too. I had forgotten I'd agreed to go to Brighton on the 25th. Have a corker though and hopefully i'll make the next one.

Drunk some cider, made some adjustments to the tension of the selector
cable, wonkily affixed the Hobbs of Barbican transfers and went for a short
roll down the Thames Path to my favourite spot overlooking the Thames for
tramp cider drinking yesterday afternoon.
Happy to report that I'll be rolling steady for this however would like
some more top end speed to may have to swap the 20T rear out for something
smaller.
Looking forward to this.* Weather looks to be warm too. -

Lovely. I can taste the blue skies, open roads and rattly bikes from here.
See you at the start.

Anyone is welcome to join but as a general rule of thumb, your bike should be older than you.

I've had a terrible brake error (replaced some levers without realising I'd have less cable as a result) but I'm going to hurry to the hated KingsX Cyclesurgery tomorrow for some replacement cables and should be good to go for Sunday. I have a whole week to install the new cables and even I couldn't take that long to do such a small job.

Ha!
Just clocked the date.... Lucky I didn't try to meet up!
I'm on duty that day though, so don't hold out much hope of making it.... I'm working on it though!
