Single Speed Estimate

  • Hey there, guys! :)

    Just wondering:

Would you say that there are more single speed cyclists, than multi-speed cyclists, there in London?

    Yes or No

Would the single speeders to other cyclists ratio-estimate be more like:

    A) 7/10

    B) 5/10

    C) 3/10

    D) 1/10

  • An afternoon spent standing on the streets of London's famous London counting with your own eyes (or filming and counting later) would be time better spent than asking on here.
I think it's 10/10. You can only ride one speed at a time, so everyone's riding single speed.

  • This is a really long drawn out way to do research for a college assignment, non?

Wisdom is such a rare commodity. I will cherish your words forever, Sensei...

    7!

    Yes!...Brilliant!!!

  • I finished college about twenty years ago. I'm relocating to London from Ohio.

  • 7 ... rubbish olly is quite obviously wrong
    it's 3
i think olly may have inverted the number i.e. non single speeds as opposed to single speeds

i would question him on where he got his data
a sample of one rider over the course of 30 seconds does not an adequate sample make

  • Are you moving from London, Ohio? The ratio is likely higher here than there.

  • Boooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggg!

No I just messed up and posted in here instead of the Strictly Come Dancing thread.

in answer to the OP- whut you talking about Willis?

Are you interested in perception or the actual lay of the land~?

  • I'd be reluctant to state the contrary to the fact that fixies/single-speeds certainly don't constitute no more than (and possibly not less than) roughly half or fewer (but possibly more) of the total of the bikes (and bike-like objects) that regularly are sometimes ridden on the streets of London (more or less).

  • .

  • 1 in 10, single speeds in the vast minority

  • 1 in 10, single speeds in the vast minority

Thanks for the only truly intelligent response, Chrispin! :)

    Sincerely,

    Slim

  • What the fuck is that?

  • single speed = one speed.
Fixed = two speed, forward and back...

    Willis here:

A brief description of the layout of the land would be nice, if it was possible.

  • Mostly flat, some notable hills/drags to the north and south.

  • I don't know.

  • I own 2 geared bikes AND a single-geared bike. Sorry to have skewed your accurate statistics.

  • I take it a bmx would be counted with the singlespeeds to

  • 0.00001/10 master race
