    Because the heavy discounters don't go below 105, it's actually hard to justify an after-market purchase of anything below that. Who would want a £260 Tiagra groupset when 5700 is only +£40, or even £215 Sora. If you're buying 1000 sets to put on OTP bikes, the price differences are bigger, but basically individual customers get OEM pricing on the top 3 groups and retail pricing on the bottom 3.

    If you were going to mix and match, you'd start with ST-5700 levers and then save money elsewhere if you have to, but the whole groupset deal is so good that you'd really have to shop around just to get something worse for the same money buying components separately.
