it's a tally of the number of goals he has scored
31 was kissing three fingers for the tens, one finger for the units ... he also does the wrist wrist for 5's i think
similar to the binary system but ratcheted up a notch
i'll try and confirm by watching an archive of his goals this season ... i may be some time
