^ Shame of the photo. What a gorgeous bike!
Thanks, just taken another (hopefully less blurry) photo

looks good! but that gap between the headset cup worries me..
maybe a silver 1 1/8" spacer would look better then a 1" one, like it did on my fairly similat profile stronglight a9.
alternatively, get the hacksaw outthanks, the spacer will go altogether, I'll get my hacksaw out when I'll drill the fork for the front brake.
And yes, those are Ultra-torque pista a la Tester.
Does anyone have a idea what size bolts I should order if I were to tap threads into a front qr axle to turn it into bolt-on? -

Anyone use 28mm Paselas on a 23mm rim (i.e. archetype)? Interested to hear how tall they sit!
-
• #92659
Sit like a normal tyres since normal touring rims tend to take that size, the 23mm work best with 23mm tyres.

I know that, but how much taller are 28c Paselas to 25c RiBMos?
RiBMos have that triangular profile, so just wondering if 28c paselas will fit :)

This is what happens when you have an unexpected day off;
Picked this up today from JD (thanks!) and it looks like it's going to fit properly.
For now I'm going to build it up basically like the image - frankenbike fixed using spares. Eventually, I'll get some bullhorns/pursuit bars, rear mech, cassette and wheel etc. and turn it into a 1x5 (6?) the way I think it was intended to be.
Lining it up next to my other bike, pursuit bars should be at a similar level to my drops on the other bike and the reach is a tiny bit shorter so there's room to adjust as I build it up. Really nice little frame and quite light too.

Reading about RC is what made me register on this forum in the first place. Nice frame, deserves proper build!

Yep, it is a nice frame - the only real flaw is the home made crimp in the chain stay - probably made to clear a double chainset.
After sleeping on it, I'm definitely going down a rebuild route, albiet a budget one. Thinking Shimano 600 or early 105 for the rear mech and DT shifter, cranks of a similar era. I do have some 600 (fc-6207) cranks which would probs work with a single ring.
Shopping list if anyone has any bits (will repost in wanted)
Brake calipers, Shimano
Rear mech and DT shifter, Shimano
Bars - looking at something like a shallow drop profile airwing or similar.
Wheels - maybe Mavic CXP33 or old cosmics?
I'm building this with a mindset of getting it functional and reasonably correct without being anal about it. -

I'm building this with a mindset of getting it functional and reasonably correct without being anal about it.I've got a 600 rear mech (early '90s??) in pretty good nick which I took off my Ron Cooper a couple of years ago when I modernised it. Also some RX100 shifters which you can have for peanuts. Can send pics if interested.
Will be interested to see how this turns out, anyway!

Quick question - Tidying up a 60/70's road bike for a mate with a 5spd Maillard 14-28t freewheel on a 126mm Normandy hub, am I right in thinking that I can swap the freewheel for a 7spd (once I get the bugger out) with a 3/32 chain?

7-speed can be a bit snug on 126mm hubs, it depends on how the seat stays meet the dropout. You can find the chain interferes with the end of the seat stay in top gear. It wouldn't hurt to use an 8-speed chain, which will work fine on any 3/32" drive but is a bit narrower than 7-speed chain.
Thanks for link, bought it.
