  • dont mind spacer(s) and yes will wait for Scheritt of course; cheers for the suggestion of Domane; will keep it on the list to ask Scheritt

  • You're more likely to find your fit better on an endurance rather than a performance bike.

Like the Cannondale Synapse in 51cm for example (R:370 S:550)

  • Yep; i think canyon is about to unveil an endurance bike soon

  • Why can't you just strip the TF into a singlespeed with fat tyres?

  • it has a 44mm headtube

Sorry I meant a tapered headtube.

  • Like the MintSauce of roadbieks. Right under my nose in Surrey to.

    Foo fighter look interesting...

  • Someone with that exact Team Bike came into my shop, sadly was too busy with a customer trying to decided on a "proper" hybrid for toddling about in the towpath to check it out.

  • Sorry I meant a tapered headtube.

    Do you even headset?

  • Ah no. 45mm of spacers.

  • You'll probably get given some exercises for mobility that'll change these numbers anyway.

  • He just need to work on his core body strength.

  • Do you even headset?

    this

  • Surely the answer is to keep the custom di2/disc brake/ mudguard bike you had made for you, put lighter tyres on, and htfu (winter bikes are supposed to be heavy!!) and replace your funny looking Rychtarski with something light which fits you.

  • That dusty pink Wyndy Milla would fit me pretty well...

I think this is the winning suggestion.

Re-do the custom frame, I'd change it to 650B, 6870 with 785 brakes, and maybe give it a fresh coat of paint.

It'll seem like a brand new bike, but you'll have got a "free" frame.

  • ^ & ^^, similar to what I suggested in the thread, deffo agree

  • No one should ever buy a WM. Ever.

  • (winter bikes are supposed to be heavy!!)

    Apparently 4130 is really heavy.

  • No one should ever buy a WM. Ever.

I wonder if any of their sponsored riders have questioned the graphics and it's interesting blend of Methylphenidate, The BNP and Spongebob Squarepants?

  • Meh. I like Windy Millars. I like the pink ones.

I'm busy entering the lottery, in hope to be able to afford a BMC TMR01 frameset.

  • yep 12.5kg on scale without anything on it :(

Rychtarski* can take 25mm + guards yes; it has long drop calipers. It also fits me better somehow; is lighter and feels faster; with TFG I could ignore the weight and use it as a commuter the only minus point apart from weight is that its concentrated at the rear axle so feels even more sluggish.

    *measurements:
    HT 13,5cm
    ST c-t 51cm
    TT c-c 51cm
    TT actual 52cm

Ideally i'd just like 2 geared bikes; winter/commuter and Sunday best. I'll see what the fit outcome is next week but I don't mind spending a little (Given I am 10kg lighter than last year while working on core and flexibility) and get something like this in small (546mm stack 375mm reach) if its going to fit; dont mind spacers; in the words of morgan 'fit before form darling; FIT BEFORE FORM'.

    Because #yolo

    far more money than sense

  • Chaps - I need some help.

My existing roadbike (Specialized Allez) has finally died (crack in head tube) after years of service.

I therefore need to buy a new road bike. This will be my mile crunching bike, primarily for training, as I have a fixed gear for commuting and a tri bike for racing, so want something comfortable and fun to ride, without being soft.

My work offers bike to work, but we have to go through Halfords, therefore am limited to buying a Boardman (I am based in Ireland).

I am looking at the Boardman Carbon Pro http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_992060_langId_-1_categoryId_212536

Now they get great reviews and all but I just don't find them particularly sexy or attractive. I would much rather get a Canyon, Dolan, or Ribble, but this would mean paying double the price for a similar spec. which I cannot rationally bring myself to do.

I therefore need some supportive encouragement and reassurance that these bikes are awesome and I will not regret going for the "cheap" option.

And before anyone feels the need to point it out - Yes - I fully realise how wankerish this thread is.

    I lol'd.

  • Why on earth would you consider a £1300 "Carbon Pro" with 2nd rate FSA chainset etc. when you could get the Ribble Race 7005 with RS21 wheelset and FULL Ultegra 11 speed for <£1000.

It's a Ribble... that's also a Dolan! Win win, if that's what you were looking for

    Also, Halfords >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
ANY other bike shop is a better bet
