So many of you remember (and like) my Cannondale Rack, which was a 1995 2.8. Well I had that built up for a year and a bit now and it was great, especially with the SRAM trigger shifters. I ended up taking the SRAM running gear off the Cannondale for the ratty Mongoose IBOC build, and the front rack is going on that as well. The Cannondale frame ended up just sitting in my garage.
I've been wanting another road bike, especially now it's coming up to winter and the thought of riding wet hills (mainly descents) using my CX bike with canti's wasn't very appealing. My last road bike was a steel Viner with 7 speed friction. I sold that frame to build up the CX bike.
So anyway, here I am rebuilding the Cannondale up. Parts wise it is going to be a bit mismatched, but almost all Campagnolo. I've only ever used SRAM ergo shifters, so this will be interesting. I plan to build it up using a SRAM / Shimano wheel set and a Shimano 9 speed rear derailleur using a Jtek ShiftMate so I can run Campy shifters. This will allow me to run a bigger cassette than Campy offer, and let me use a wheel set I already have.
What I have at the moment is:
1995 Cannondale 2.8 (54cm)
pre-2001 Campagnolo silver Veloce 9 speed ergo shifters
2001-ish Campagnolo silver Centaur crankset and bottom bracket
2001-ish Campagnolo silver Centaur front derailleur
Campagnolo silver threaded headset (unsure of year)
SRAM / Shimano black wheel set (from a Giant TCX, originally on my CX build for the first build).
2010-ish Campagnolo black Veloce brakes
Black Kalloy seat post
old Time ATAC pedals
Flite saddle
I need to buy:
bars and stem. I'm going to go threadless with a quill to ahead adaptor. I've done this on my CX bike and it's fine. It will allow me to run compact bars without having to buy Soma HWY 1's / Nitto etc. plus I don't think I have a quill stem I can use. I'll be getting black bars and stem.
tyres. Probably going to run 25mm Panaracer Pasela gumwalls
cassette. Want something pretty big range. Like up to a 32t because I'm not running a compact crankset.
bar tape, which will be Lizardskins DSP. I love this tape.
cables and chain.
I also plan to get the frame stripped back to raw aluminium. I have bought these "period correct" decals for it.
Here's what I am hoping it will (kind of) look like.
