Following an Epsom Coaches LTD vehicle along York Road, the driver seemed to be comfortable with manouvering these things in London, but just because he was doing 20-23 mph I couldn't decide between over(under) taking and drafting. Then I saw he will be catching up with a line of traffic so went back to th CS, undertook and moved in front of him to overtake a bus at the bus stop.
Glance over, he's much closer than I'd like him to be. Look at the driver - staring dead in front. Yeah I know the visibility in HGV starts 2-3 metres in front of the vehicle, but this guy has the largest windscreen ever.
Anyway, I wave at him, he notices me, and carries on 2 metres behind me, so I get in front, slow down, and stop. I ask him to give me space and travel further behind me, he just mimics my hand gestures, but I can't hear him through the glass.
I ride off
PS. I love reading your anecdotes and yes I like the fact that despite the strike people do try to get to work hence some inexperienced cyclists around, but I admit, I don't care. I want them out of my way, if they're unsure how do commute - stick to the pavement side of the bus lane and observe. Don't clog the gaps between the cars.
