We need your support and voices to get Colombian pro cyclists competing in the Giro D'Italia. Please email the British Embassy in Bogota with a polite request to fast track the riders visas and let them know we care.. Email to

  • Think it happens lots like this, unlikely to be cause for concern they'll be ok. Quantic had a few of his Combo Barbario musicians declined a couple of years back but they still made it over in time for the uk tour.

  • Done

British sporting public, that you allow Colombia's international racing cyclists to obtain visas in order to be able to compete in the Giro d'Italia, which starts in Belfast on 9 May. Their difficulties are an embarrassment to a nation so open to the world, and so passionate about sport, as ours.

    With kind regards, etc.

"Ours". I came here to steal your bieks

  • Thanks Kris,

Can you imagine the harm it would cause the Giro and Northern Ireland if they didn't make it though..
    British Immigration is jokes..

  • The US immigration is jokes too. Some rock musicians were denied visas for a spliff, yet Nigella Lawson will be fast tracked.

  • ^I thought Nigella was denied entry at some point as well? There was a big deal about it in the Canadian papers because the USA still would let Rob Ford in, when he was up to worse drug-related shenanigans than Nigella.

Anyway, we saw the Columbia team in Italy last year during the Giro and they were very friendly, gave us a little wave on their way to the start of the team time trial in Ischia. Would be a shame if UK immigration messes this up.

  • Cool guys

They denied her entry, initially, but then promised to fast track her visa application.
As for the Canadians, D.R.I. couldn't tour over there recently because their drummer has a DUI charge.

Hope it will all work out for the Colombians.

  • Apparently the Ambassador likes Ferrero Rocher..
your replies will ask to email consular.bogota@fco.gov.uk

  • This is all a (media created) storm in a tea cup. There is no issue with any of the Colombian cyclists being refused entry to the UK for the start of the Giro, it's just that some applied for the wrong type of visa, hence the delay.

    The British Embassy in Bogota just posted this;

  • Told you so ;)

  • Cool guys, may be. One look at their staff, http://www.colombiacyclingpro.com/staff-list/, and you know they are not just on their bikes.
