I did. Boo for me :(

Ah cheers guys, they're defo too short then as the headtube alone is 20cm.
Anyone recommend some straight blade 1" track forks in either carbon or steel that I could put on the Pendle for longer rides and possibly put a brake on.
They've got threaded and unthreaded straight blades at Kinoko - http://www.kinokocycles.com/parts/forks.html

Cheers Will, those look perfect.
Is 35cm a pretty low a2c even for track forks? That would be good because the pendle fork has a really low a2c and I wouldn't want anything too much longer because it rides nicely as it is.

those action forks are reeeeally heavy, just saying

Yes. 700×23C tyres have a radius of about 335mm, so 350mm A-C is about as low as you can go. Road forks are usually 360-365mm

Thought they'd be heavy, cro-mo and everything but just remember seeing them when I was looking for forks for the Harry Quinn.

Cheers 'tester.
I do have another question though, anybody care to guess the rake of these forks?

I'd measure but I'm not home tonight.

I don't think those Action forks are 35cm A-C, looks like the 350mm is to the underside of the crown, measured along the radius not parallel to the steerer axis (which is the measurement direction for true A-C). I'm guessing they are a conventional 365mm A-C, based on the brake boss being 10mm so the total crown being ~18mm from underside to crown race mounting face.

Also, Kinoko want to have their cake and eat it, if their description of the Alpina fork is any guide:
The rare, short 30mm rake ensures quick handling on the road or stable tracking on the velodrome.
Idiots.

You need a shorter valve Indra!

How long's a piece of string?

How long's a piece of string?
Twice the length from one end to the middle.

How long's a piece of string?
I think we can narrow it down a bit more than that. I'd say somewhere between 25mm and 50mm.
-
• #91891
^ It's a small piece of string...
-
• #91892
But fork rake has got to be in the 30-35mm range.

I'm not the kind of guy to do equations and such like but I'm fairly certain if you were to fill in some of the information you DO know about the geometry, someone can figure it out using maths.

Nice but they've got a bit more tyre clearance than I was looking for, I'll try to get my hands on some of the tokyo fixed ones to have a look at before buying them if they seem right.
-
• #91897
Nice one Tom, know what the rake is?
-
• #91898
Not sure I'm afraid, never measured it, but they weren't too slack:

Cool, I'll give it some more thought before deciding what to go for.
I am thinking to go for the chrome steel right now.

I didn't know there was such a thing tbh, need to change the rear cabling anyway so will investigate into that! Nice one TM!
It really does make that big a difference, it felt just as good as hydraulic, even the rear felt as smooth as the front to modulated.
Can you see where you went wrong?
