  • Can someone please help me find the correct headset required for my Mash, When i checked eBay for 1 1/8 integrated headset I'm finding loads with different angles and degrees. I need something cheap and cheerful.

  • Hi mates, with all due respect I would like some advice:

I bought a second hand Cinelli Mash and the previous owner rode it with a very missaligned chainline that had a lot of noise and drag when pedaling. This is how the bike was setup when I recieved it:

    Frame: Cinelli Mash Histogram 2012-2013
Crankset: Miche Primato Advanced 170mm crankarm length
Bottom Bracket: Stronglight JP400 68x110mm BSA thread JIS
    Rear Hub: Paul Components
    Cog: BLB

My question is: I want to achieve a perfect chainline but have no idea which Bottom Bracket model and length to buy.

I know this is a trifling question for the experts and that I am an insect that does not deserve to live or even have a bike, but your advice would be very very helpful :)

    Many Thanks !!!

  • It worked fine on my langster with perfect chainline

  • This is how the bike looks now, if u zoom you will see that the chain is not straight, but I am not sure if I need more or less chainline ;(

On the other hand, I haven't found anyone using a Paul Components rear Hub at the transmission database post :(

  • Paul hubs have a 44mm chainline but standard track chainline is 42mm so assuming your bike is set up for that you'll need a 4mm wider bb.

  • Many thanks for the advice :) I ended up installing a Campagnolo Ach 111mm ISO bottom bracket and the chain as well so the chainline seems to run a little smoother now.

I feel I need to overtighten the hub bolts in order to keep the correct chain tension. In that sense I am affraid of damaging the dropouts that's why I thought about installing the MKS tug chain tensioner. Can you guys give your poit of view if u would install this device in a Mash?

    Tusen takk :)

  • You won't damage the track ends as they have replaceable plates, but you could still use a chain tug if it continues to slip.

  • Yeah, I used to run the 10mm MKS chain tugs on my Mash.

    Like a glove.

Replaced it with the Phil Wood Dome, the allen bolt have little surface area to sufficently grip the track end.

  • Will be taping up soon. Why is it so hard to find Cinelli Jelly tape in natural? Sold out pretty much everywhere!

I've been trying not to use the brake to slow down apart from emergencies but I dont think I would ever feel comfortable brakeless....

If you feel more comfortable with a brake then have a brake, don't listen to what other people say regarding brakes. You may become more confident not using the brake in time which if you do then if you really wanted to go brakeless could consider it, don't feel peer pressured to ditch the brake.

  • For the record I was purely talking about aesthetics, like, for the photo.

Of course do use a break if you think it's better!

  • The only way to get comfortable without a brake is to take it off. Just do it. Ride easy at first, then confidence grows and you don't look back.

I rode the OG mash with Paul's on a shimano bb for years without any problems at all.

  • Another repainted Mash from Indonesia

  • awful

  • Built my Parallax up yesterday:

Are there more Parallax riders here?

  • I have that saddle....you a big PFG fan??

  • Indeed i am. Started riding FG after i left the Netherlands, so the only way i could support them until now is with the saddle. The rest came from the Web/LBS

  • My Vigorelli frame and forks is for sale, size Large - 56
