Wanted: Pair of Hex Nut Brake Callipers

Posted on
  • I learnt today my frame will only fit Older style nutted mount brake callipers. Does anyone know of decent dual pivot pairs for sale anywhere at all? I'm really struggling..

  • I have a pair of Weinmann with matching levers for £20 plus post if that helps?
    PM if you'd like them.

  • The last nut fit dual pivots Shimano made were the BR-1055/SCs
Acor make them, as do alhonga and Tektro.

You could in theory use a front caliper on the rear & just wack on a 10mm nut then get a longer brake pivot bolt for the rear.
Tbh we've used the Alhonga ones and they work pretty well.
Setting up and pad type make more of a difference than the actual make of caliper IMO

The other alternate is to drill/file out the hole in the forks/bridge to accept a recessed nut.

  • Thank you for your help, I managed to find some tektro R539 callipers nutted. :)
