Definitely worth more than 2 stars.
I've been there more times than I could count and I've never been disappointed. I'm not sure I've had better Indian food in London, and I've been to Ganapati, The Cinnamon Club, Benares etc.

You talking about central London I guess? Northwood, Harrow, Wembley, Southall and Hounslow all have better food than Diwana.
Not to say it's bad, just to say that there is better.

I haven't explored the suburbs enough in terms of food, though my parents used to live in Southall and still rave about Rita's which is apparently still great.
Actually I did have some amazing food at my friend's parents' house in Hillingdon.
Any recommendations anywhere greatly accepted!

Rita's is great for a cheap Indian fix.
A few places that I think are decent:
- The Regency Club in Queensbury Station parade is a proper Indian pub, mainly full of East African Indians. It gets very busy as it is a popular venue for watching sports matches, but does superb grilled meats and classic Gujarati and Punjabi dishes, some of which have East African origins (think Cassava Chips)
- Madhus in Southall always has exceptional starters. I would especially recommend the jeera chicken and the masala fish. Main courses are left seriously wanting sadly. Again, this is run by Indians of East African origin.
- For a bit of a South Indian vibe, check out Saravan Bhavan in Rayners Lane or Wembley or Tooting. It is now a global chain, but I think the Rayners Lane branch does the best masala dosa in London. The standard fare Indian dishes on the menu should ideally be avoided.
- I also think Hot Stuff in Vauxhall can turn out great food if the right things are ordered. A recent visit saw some superb jeera chicken and a fantastic butternut squash curry. Their naans are also excellent.

I like pizza. And I like fried chicken.
However I don't want Dominos to use fried chicken as the base of a pizza.
I may burn in food hell for this but I might give the hot buffalo one a crack

I agree with you, it is great for a cheap eats type place and in a really central location. I like the Bhel Pouri and the sunday buffet as it gives people the opportunity to expand the pallette. Also pop over to ambala the sweet shop.

When I go to rita's, there are two, one by the hsbc bank and the other on the high road. A local friend comes with us and manages to order off the menu and is amazingly cheap. But then the cooking is very regional.
Fancy a ride out?
There is another one on the high road famous for its chili garlic naans, you sweat garlic the next day but you really feel good.

Any suggestions for best in Southall and Harrow Hounslow?
Since I often have to ride through those bastard places the least they could do is feed me some time.

hounslow - african queen, and the hussar

Hot stuff in Vauxhall is brilliant. Cash price results in a completely random discount of the bill and the naans are bigger than the table. Been a while since I last went but I do like the place.

i see this has opened in Brixton... and by 'Brixton' i mean 'Herne Hill'

25p fresh naan round the corner. Fresh Labneh. Proper Za'atar from Palestine, and olive oil.
Does it get any better for a quick snack. I think not. -

I fancy a curry tonight... I keep hearing Curry Paradise on Brixton Hill is really good, is it? What's the best thing on their menu? Tell me...
I'm too hungover to decide for myself...

y u no khans?
/curry paradise is alright, square plates tho, which is frankly unforgivable. Dooks would love it.

Khan's is really bland, in my experience... Different coloured sauces that all taste exactly the same... i.e. slightly curry-ish...

Do it
I went to Babur just after moving to Forest Hill and I was blown away by the quality. I'm not easily impressed in restaurants but have no qualms about recommending this place.
