I'm going for the same wheelset when I get some money together, high or low flange?
-

That frame is tiny.

High flange, the wheels are on the Volume bike in the pictures I posted.
That frame is tiny.
It's a 51 C-C, 53 C-T seattube and 52.5 C-C top tube.

I received the crankset today.
Suntour Superbe pro 165mm and 50T Suntour Superbe Pro chainring. Both cranks and chainring are NJS stamped.
I had a 110mm ISO bb laying around which gives a good 42mm chainline which I need with the Miche hubs.Pics:
Sorry for the poor quality pics. Don't have a proper camera lying around here now.
As for the tyres, has anyone already ridden with the Continental Grand Prix 4000S II? Thinking about buying those in 28c.
-
• #6
Just go for the normal GP4000s ;). SII isn't worth it for everyday riding IMO. Really good looking bike man!
-
• #7
Thanks man!
The 4000S II are exactly the same price as the normal 4000S on Rose Versand and they come in 28c.
28 will fit this frame so I'll think I go for these. The only problem is that there aren't any reviews yet because the tyres are so new. -
• #8
Damn, didn't know that. Go for it then, you won't regret, 4000s are great tyres, so I don't think the sII will be worse.

If that frame has a lugged bottom bracket and the original fork - get in touch with Kinoko Cycles immediately. The forks were recalled for a safety issue. They will switch them out for a new set ASAP for you.
DON'T RIDE IT UNTIL THEN.
-
• #10
Thanks, didn't know that. I don't feel safe riding the frame if that is true.
I sent the guys of Kinoko an e-mail. It would be nice if they can send me new/other forks. -
• #11
They should replace them for you immediately.
The recall notice is here - http://www.kinokocycles.com/blog/2013/09/12/tokyo-fixed-s2-2011-frameset-recall/

I really need to get myself a Fixie. Lovely ride.

This is what they replied to my question:
"Hi,
I'm pretty sure that is an early model. The frame is fine but the forks were not good. I would suggest you replace the fork.
Andrew"
So I guess I have to buy new forks then..

"This recall concerns the fork crown potentially debonding from the steerer tube, causing a possible failure of the fork. The frame is unaffected by this issue. We are recalling all 2011 S2 V1 framesets for a replacement fork immediately.
If your bike is involved in this recall, we ask you to stop using this fork immediately. Please get in contact with us at media@kinokocycles.com with the email subject “S2 Recall”, or call 0207 243 6088 to discuss this issue with us. Tokyo Fixed will replaced any 2011 S2 V1 fork.
Your safety is our principal concern and we wholeheartedly apologise for any inconvenience this causes."
This is what they wrote. So, if they are professional, they should send you a new fork.
Hope you get it! -

You should write back saying "I would suggest YOU replace the fork"...

^^^ I was dealing with the recall when I worked for Kinoko, not Andrew. Unfortunately he might not have been informed about the situation.
If you send him a message telling him to ask Max about it, or to get in touch with Morgan. They will definitely replace them, we bought a stock of forks with which to do it.

Haven't considered that yet. I'm happy with the Fizik Arione saddles. They are so comfortable. But indeed, they aren't that good looking.
that thrashr looks sick
It's a Cutter, but thanks man!

^ it's all good blud.... in all fairness, my DiY saddle which was stripped/drilled/reshaped from an old velo crossbow bares a strong resemblance to the Arione
.... I just thought the Flite might suit the retro'radness of the lugged frame on the S2
Do yo thang!!

I just purchased one of these frames in a recent sale. I must learn to resist shiny new toys! I've no doubt that once built up I'll use it as a nice summer ride.
Does anyone know the brake drop on these 49mm? or bigger thanks. -

"reason: conformity".ha! good comeback..
Hi there,
I've been lurking around here for a little while now and since I got a new frame I'm building up I thought it was a good time to finally make a thread on here.
I bought a Tokyo Fixed S2 frame from the Classifieds section here on LFGSS. I've been riding fixed for a couple of years and since I got a bike with a fairly light ratio for day to day commuting and riding to school and work, I wanted to also build a bike for long distance riding and finally go clipless.
Finding a bike in my size wasn't easy so I'm glad I found this one.
Pics of my commuter:
Colnago Street carbon forks:
It's a Volume Cutter frame I rattlecanned fluoro yellow. It's heavy but certainly fun to ride around town.
Now the 'new' bike:
Stripped a bit of the paint of the Deda Piega Compacts:
Enough clearance for 28s
Don't mind the wheelset and tyres. These are going on the Volume.
Setup is going to be:
Tange headset
SR 90mm stem
Suntour Superbe Pro crankset
50x18 ratio
Time Atac carbon pedals
Deda Piega Compacts
Fizik Arione saddle
Thomson inline seatpost
Mavic Open Pro CD to Miche Primato hubs
Got these the other day:
It's going to be my first time clipless. Bought Time Atac pedals because I read a lot of good things about them on here.
Bought these dirt cheap second hand to match the pedals:
Installed some new cleats and set them on the 17 degree angle.
Hopefully tomorrow the Suntour Superbe Pro crankset will arive, So I'll keep you guys updated.
