Reading this thread makes me want a pompino, plus the many many miles of canals and cross country routes where i live. Anyone have one for sale?!

Thanks Mentats. Very pleased so far. Cranks and ring getting a good solid upgrade soon.

Not pretty, but fast - just beat my geared bike around Richmond Park, so I thought I should put my mismatched Pomp up here, complete with epic stack. Next job is to sort the ropey chainline, which I think is caused by the fact that I'm using a BB from a triple crankset...

Whats the Pomp like with that build? brakeless fixie skidder ting, heard one guy say it was boring compared to a track frame.
Also, All City Big block fork!

Can't say much yet, but i thought it would feel worse, after tomorrows commute will have something more to say as someone who is used to track frames. If it gets rack it will have front brake, but i'd like it brakeless, 35mm and mudguards and it's perfect for commuting, I'm just too lazy to keep changing shoes at school so straps it is for a month or so.

I'm saying it's the way to go.
It's how I run mine.

If I don't part with it for some weird reason then that's what is happening to it before autumn.

master do you live in a bathhouse?
-
• #3791
no that's my basement and I don't have any other place with good enough lightning. Tho next pics will be out as sun sets later. Today I finished when it was dark already.

So it will be ridden like this until I convert parts i don't need to money.
Needs bigger chainring, sorted scoble stack, NOT red headset, All City forks, blacked out MSW, fatter tires. This won't be your typical Pompino, rack and mudgurads will come after summer, when school starts or maybe earlier, but it's comfortable. -

So I need some new forks for my pompetamine. The P2's I have at the moment have too short a steerer and I need higher bars for touring. I also have a front rack and I was wandering about trying to get some forks that will improve the handling (which is ok at the moment but it can be better). I guess the head tube angle is too slack to make it amazing but would something with a more rake be better? It needs a disc mount.
What is there around? Don't want to go custom as I don't want to put loads of monies on this bike.

Have you considered Pompetamine forks?
-
• #3795
^this, but also take a look at Surly, Salsa & possibly All-City.

So should I be looking for more rake for better handling? Or is this futile without going for a proper front rack randoneur/porteur specific geometry?

What kind of front rack?
My pomp has front lowriders and the handling is great, even with just a single pannier it's fine.

I think he's talking about a porteur rack. The whole point of low-riders is that they don't fuck up the handling like porteurs do.

Now finished with race blades and bottle cage. Took it for a quick 30miles around the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside and can confirm, the Alfine 8 works like a dream. I've heard a couple of nightmare stories about the Alfine but so far I'm impressed!
