On it like a car bonnet! Just read this part of the thread and been trying to figure out how to get some folks of mine to cycle around London without breaking the bank and this is it, brilliant!

reccy was a bit meh. I found some nice places but very limited menus, especially for vegetarians.
Also didn't venture very far, hayfever lurgy got me and had to squint back home to wash my face.

1. The Duke - cool pub, bit hidden which I like. 3 for 2 offer on food which is good but limited.
   
2. Holborn Whippet - unfort standing around outdoor space is the deal here, but excellent selection of beer and they do pizza. Maybe one for sunny days?
   
3. The Crown - nice bit of pavement drinking at the back of this place. Food is limited but ok. Sam Smiths - which some people hate, some people like.
   
4. Truckles - more a wine bar, but great location in a courtyard. More of a menu as it is a Davys bar.
   
5. The College Arms - more of a menu as its a Faucet Inn pub group. Looked on from outside.

We should totally try the Birdbeak Student Union, Malet Street one of these days. Much cheapness, roof terrace, plenty bike parking and they never, NEVER ask for ID.

The only down side is it's a bit of an arse to find, but I'd be happy to do a few running up and down to fetch people.

Good work on the recce btw - how about we instigate, a "if you start it, you can pick the pub" type action - if people really don't like the look of somewhere they can choose somewhere better the next time!

^ along with mands' excellent info this is a pub idea I can get behind. I'm UCL (and therefore UoL) staff so can probably sign people in if they want to be funny about it.

Commiz on the hayfever Mands, Sterling effort there.

Happy to visit any of the above pubs. I like the effort involved in getting to the Birdbeak Student Union. Visit that one in May? :-)
