  • Deed is done; tried Giro LX, but they are a pain to get on and off, even going up a size; opted for Castelli S.Uno; fit and function seem good; we'll see about the wear.

  • Hey guys,

Thought this would be a simple case of just buying a pair that looked nice, fit well, were good quality etc. So I ordered some online, first impressions were good, but then I put them on and realised I could see my knuckle tattoos through them. What I had failed to remember is that being for summer an all, sometimes they tend to be rather thin on the back of the hand.

Granted it is my own fault for failing to factor my cycling behaviour into the "knuckles are a great idea" decision making process.

So, what I need is recommendations for any fingerless summer gloves where the backs aren't essentially see through, because I know I'll regret not doing this when I rip half off it off on the floor. Yum.

    Cheers,
    Amber

  • I find that the spesh gloves pinch the webbing between my fingers #csb
Their long finger gloves are good though.

  • I like the cheapo Mavic Espoir gloves.

  • Any experience of reviews of these:

  • Picked up some Specialized SL Pro gloves for £20 today:

Wanted some lightweight gloves with white palms which wouldn't stain white tape. My black Giro LX ones leak dye. Was after the Giro Monaco, but can't find them for sale anywhere at a decent price. Saw these at a local shop on sale, thought I'd give them a try.Very comfy and light, with a Pittards leather palm and minimal padding. Fit well at the wrist. No need for a Velcro tab. No sweat/snot wipe material, which kind of sucks, but I guess they're meant to be ultra-lightweight summer gloves... Still, if it's hot you'll sweat, so should really be there. We'll see how long they last, but for £20 they seem like a nice deal.

  • With the warmer weather coming in now, its time to perhaps start thinking about getting some mitts and putting away the ol winter gloves.

I need some recommendations on *durable*mitts (if they're good quality, price isn't really much of an object) that will last me more than a month or two (I ride all day, every day more or less). Padded or unpadded, doesn't matter too much. Grippp Tour SF look like they would last a while but they're not easy to find and I don't care much for the kangaroo bullshit. I've had Giro full finger gloves before and their fit was absolutely superb.

  • durable

    Rapha because repair service

  • Bought some Suarez from ebay. I am not sure how durable mitts are, but so far comfortable. Minimal padding though

  • Grippp are amazing - best mitts I've ever used by a long way. They had a brief spell of being really poorly made, but that's been fixed now

  • In what way poorly made? I've gone through two pairs of these mitts, both times wearing through the palm. If they've made them more durable I may purchase again, because they are brilliant.

  • Rapha mitts on sale in Condor. Now £52 instead of £70. Lots of sizes and both black and white.

  • I need some New mitts. Preferably white, preferably classic styled, and preferably not overly padded. Any recomendations?

    Currently considering:

    Giro SIV
    Giro LX
    Chapeau
    Oakley Factory road
    Rapha classic

  • Lizard Skins La Sal? (Only seen, not worn)

  • Thats what I'm replacing.
They were pretty Nice. Lycra between the fingers helps a lot with the fit. Did a brilliant job of protecting my palm when I crashed. Although didnt wear that well for leather gloves.

I'd buy them again. Just fancey a change.

  • I've been using the Giro ones, forget the name - the Pittards (?) leather ones. They're very nice, only slight issue was that I had to cut a lump of material out of a seam, but once that minor job was done they've been great.

  • ^ Giro LX - my favourite mitts.
Definitely well padded, but small sort of dense pads, not a big cushion, depends what you consider to be 'overly'.

  • Just came across Giro Zero II which look to have pittards palm, no padding, lightweight back, and much cheaper than LX, if you're after something summery they look nice.

  • Norway is always summery

  • Been using Cinelli Caleida for the last twelve months off and on, very good mits IMO, lightweight, well padded, look boss

  • Anyone used the Spesh Grail gloves and care to comment on how they compare with normal Body Geo gloves? Do they really do much to reduce pressure points?

  • La passione gloves are crappo btw. Stitching went on both, 4 days into a tour. La passione want me to send back for repair and won't issue a refund. Bibs are great though

I tried them but went back to my old Spesh gloves. I will probably give them another go since I was trying them with already bruised hands.
