Like more than 84"?
More people need to have a go at this fixed. The fixed/geared balance is way off for a theoretically fixed forum.
Solo - yes. While I will forever be too fat.
I also believe my 3 spaed would not be a legal fixed time?
-
• #2003
I would allow it, just to up variety when populating the board. No idea how others would feel though.

Counts as gears, obvs.

Put in a 56:38 (G) Anti-C last night. http://www.strava.com/activities/129186730
Reckon I can do a bit better, possibly sub 53 minutes as faded big time on the last lap..

^ Yeah I don't think any of those times had a wheel to hold onto.
Tho to make the attempt worth your time I would think these days you have to do it on a weekday and at a weird time - traffic and other cyclists at almost any point on a weekend will ruin your time* - unless you have a Hippy-level front light to do it at night.
Do it at night, No lights ftw
around 4am is good this time of year. Watch out for deer though.

Remember going for evening ride in the depths of winter and passing fallow dear on the road. Warned another rider coming down Sawyers at speed, then heard a skip and a bang as he flew 20 yards and came down on the wet tarmac. Loads of road rash but lucky nothing serious. Red deer / dry night might have been a different story. /csb

Will try and have a crack over the summer on fixed. Are TT bikes considered unsporting?
-
• #2011
They're fine if they're Bromptons with TT bars, as Ed will attest
-
• #2012
I had a go at this last night, got held up by a long row of cars and, unbelievably, took a wrong turning, so I think I'll hold off adding my time until next time.
Clearly not abiding by UCI 1.2.064 judging from the image above.

Animals everywhere. Big deer just wander along the road but the little ones spook and bolt left and right all over the place. Then you have a lot of little stuff like rabbits and unknown critters. I'd rather ride straight out the A40. -

How can you take a wrong turn? It's richmond park!
-
• #2016
"Turn left at each roundabout" = a short anticlockwise lap
-

HA!
Common sense!

It was gridlocked in both directions around the car park near Richmond gate at lunch time. I could see crabon souls being crushed as Bike Radar 3lc league times just eroded away infront of them.

If you're going to do fast laps, don't go at lunchtime on a bank holiday weekend.

Thankfully I was trying to keep to a strict 13mph average. Leeeeeeisurley.

Did you make sure to abruptly stop in the middle of traffic, without first checking your rear-view, to gawp at yet another bunch of deer?
Seems to be a favourite pastime of car bound RP visitors on most days like this, and all the more reason to give the whole place a wide berth, or just like you say, keep things leeeeeeisurely ;)

Just came back through there from Surrey, absolutely heaving with cars gridlocked by the carparks and still hundreds of cyclists heading towards the park
