I think it'll go a touch further. Automatic shifting based on Power and cadence data. Just turn a knob to tell the computer you want a higher/lower target Power, or another knob for a higher/lower target cadnece. Braking will be balnced across the Wheels by the same computer, much like most modren cars.
I don't think that's far off, it would be pretty easy to implement, the difficulty is in getting it small and convenient enough.
