The beginners sessions are usually on a Tuesday evening at Newington Gardens, Harper Road, SE1. As Snoops says, the usual sessions in Hackney Downs are frequented by players who've been playing a good few years and you may be a bit lost by it all. My advice would be to check the beginners sessions first and see how it goes, if its too slow for you then check out the other options.
