Chris King nothreadsets - should the 'bearing cap' be a bonkers-tight fit on the steerer?
It wouldn't be on a proper headset, but the original CK with no split collet relied on the tight fit of the top cap to maintain the centring of the steerer in the upper bearing.
The fact that it's so "disgusting" does suggest a picture of improper digestion, things like methane and sulfur compounds tend to stink to high heavens.
Methane is odourless (that's why domestic natural gas has Methanethiol added to it, to allow human olfactory detection). Hydrogen Sulphide is pretty distinctive, and methyl-sulphides are pretty rank.
