Yes. Those particular tektro levers are designed for 'full-sized' v brakes as they pull more cable than 'normal' levers. To be compared with the usual flat bar levers you would find on mtbs/hybrids and whatnot.

How funked up (do you reckon) will the braking be with a canti on the front and a mini V on the back?
Front and rear brakes on a bike are so different anyway, you won't notice.
-
• #3754
why on earth would you put canti front v rear? Just go full v.
-
• #3755
Modulation up front, sharpness out back.
That's (partly) why I ran my street MTB with a V-brake on the fork, and a Magura HS33 on the frame. The levers on my flat green Pomp up there^^^^ are Tektro RL520s.
I chose them because I already had a perfectly good pair of full-sized Vs sitting around, and the RL520s were very cheap. I quite like them. -

Or mud clearance at front, heel clearance at the rear.
Or because the front brake is the one that does most braking so if you're going to have one brake better than the other it should be the front.

Annoyingly no new pomp on the PX stand at the bike show. No Pompetamines either. PX obv intending to use the velodrome as a tenuous link to performance and racing etc to make all the punters believe they need crabons and hunners o gears instead if steel and mudguards.

It's from the brain - after a while, you get used to it and stop noticing.

COST. The bike came with Cantis - I want to get use out of them before replacing. They work well enough, never felt that I needed more braking power.
The only issue with the rear Canti is that the rack arms mounted on the pomp are very close together and as I said the yoke is rubbing between the rack arms when I apply the brake.
I got a mini V on a sale thread here for £6 - only one was for sale. I only needed one so I snapped it up. Simples.

Thanks for letting me know about the levers, I see CRC do them for £17ish. I'll bookmark it for future reference. Any other drop levers that work well with full size Vs?
Cheers. Vlad

While we're on the topic of different brakes, how come everyone (me included) scours the net for carbon canti/V forks to put on a Pomp, when there's a much bigger/nicer/cheaper range of carbon forks with caliper brake mounts?
Don't think I've ever seen a Pomp with a front caliper brake.

B-cause mud is a Pomps best friend?

Because road forks are about 30-40mm too short axle-crown to work on a Pomp. If you had a long enough fork with a caliper brake, the brake would need a reach of about 80mm.

I've U'dTFS and can't find the answer to my question:
Will SKS Longboards fit on my Large 2012 Pompino frame running 32c Paselas, and if not, which SKS 'guards will give me the best coverage?
-
• #3764
The sks chromoplastic guards are good, I'm using the narrow ones with 28c paesla's at the moment, they do them in narrow and wide. I know thedopestghost has used the wide with 32 and 35c paesla's.

Longboards should be fine. I've fit sks commuters and chromoplasts on a large 2011 with 32c cross tyres, see the white pomp with the trailer on the previous page.

Bike shop dude 'thinks' they should be fine too, but my search on here only turned up this and duderino doesn't state why they won't fit (or what size frame they had).
If anyone knows of a Pomp running Longboards, please post it up. I would prefer them due to extra length, curvature & flaps. Oo-err. -

I bought them for my 2012 Pomp without expecting they wouldn't fit, think they may fit with some modification...

• #3770
Nice! Yours?
-
• #3771
Nope, just came across. From the Hundo'.

Longboards have a 45mm section, my commuters measure 48mm. Should be fine.

I had longboards on my large pomp (bathroom blue) with 32 randos at various different chainstay lengths. no problem at all. IIRC they're specced at 35c max, but I would imagine it would be pretty tight on 35c.
longboards on same frame/fork with 28c marathons here
edit: welp, I was wrong. Longboards apparently go up to 45m (see below)

This.
Longboard in 45 will fit perfectly, I had a 45 Chromoplastic on the old Pompino.

Ditto. 45's have tonnes of room.
Is that a full size V on the back? http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7426/10618438754_7cf1d212e4_o.jpg
