If it's only 50 miles old what's the reason the nose bolt has been tightened up so much?
-
• #4
It was like that when I got it. I haven't touched it.
-
• #5
So 50 miles by you an an unknown amount by the previous owner?
-
• #6
Nope. 50 miles since new.

Fair enough then, is that how they ship then, with the tensioning bolt tightened? (Genuine question, I don't know!)
-

First one I ever bought so I've no idea. I haven't touched the bolt and I bought it from wiggle new.

Apologies for doubting you. I'd love this, but finances don't allow. GLWS.

I've got several, all bought s/h so I don't know how they ship, but only one of them has been tightened anything like that much.
The rest of the saddle does look immaculate, apparently sharp edges on the Swift moulding, that kind of thing ...

I've a Brooks Swallow Titanium which I've had since new and it has about the same amount of tensioning on the bolt from new

Hi ChrisR1983 !
Nice saddle ! Do you have any idea how much it weighs ?
I am thinking of upgrading from my 1972 BROOKS PROFESSIONAL
with steel rails .
Thanks , quazyquetzal .

I bought one on here last year that was 'allegedly' untouched but had been indeed tampered with in fact royally so!....This one looks as it should be...leather has not flared etc.....so i think it is a good saddle at a fair price....GLWS.

... this should be a B17 titanium, so I could buy it ;)

With regards to tension bolt, this is how I received a Swallow Ti straight from Brooks.
Obviously a different model and has a collar rather than exposed thread (which is maybe the problem here) but similar spacing and remaining bolt thread for tensioning, so i'd say the OP's is a safe bet.

perfect upgrade for my tourer. paid. And for reference the tightness of the tensioning bolt is the same as my other swift but it's just not got a collar as b'jammin pointed out. So no problems in my eyes

Sold. Thanks zatchmo.

Well, every day's a school day - I never knew how much apparent movement of the tension bolt there could be in a new saddle, 'cos I'm too tight to buy anything other than s/h and had assumed that any exposed thread was down to (over)tightening. Never assume ... mutter mutter. Clearly a couple of my saddles are less worn than I thought they were.
(Ta for the learning, and glad the sale went well.)
Selling my Brooks swift with titanium rails in black. 50 miles old, selling as incompatible with my arse.
Comes with saddle cover and maintenance kit (proofide, shammy and spanner). I don't have the box as I threw it out. It's in perfect condition (which is more than can be said for my back side after riding it).
