  • Thread turned into a little more than just the Harry Quinn. Basically, all going to plan, I'll be going to uni in London next year, so this is the bike I'll be taking.

Plan is easily serviceable, something that isn't going to be broken all of the time and something that'll be good for long rides, tours and adventures, so for the Dunwich Dynamo, longer rides and just being an everyday beater.

    So, here we go.

Sabre was too small so picked this up, and it's loooovely!

Transferred the old parts to the frame, then realised the clearance on the front forks needed 20c. Picked up a Panaracer from work and decided to go brklss, because frankly drilling the forks would be a wee bit of a shame.

Got some Mavic Open Pros to lace up for the wheels, looking out for some sugino 75's and low stack nice headset, something that'll last.

On a side note, rides fucking lovely and much more comfy thanks to the gentler saddle-bar drop.

  • thats a killer looking ride!glad it got there safely. enjoy her Will!

  • Cheers dude, she's aaawesome!

Put the new Turbo on her today, still working out whether it's comfier or in fact not so, messing around with saddle positions for the next couple of days I reckon.

  • The turbo looks good- go for comfy , though.. I had a sore time getting the right saddle for my ass. All these years later and I found a couple..

  • Looks great, the Turbo does suit it better IMO. It looks like the bars need to be rotated forwards? With those bars I thought the end of the bar should be almost horizontal.

  • I always thought the tops were supposed to be horizontal? Entirely possible I'm completely wrong though.

Kinda hoping with a shift in angle it'll be comfier, because it does look a fair bit nicer....

  • Also tempted to try and go for double 20c gumwalls (would need something durable/skiddable) or just go for all black tires, hardshell on back, lugano up front.

  • I'm not 100% sure about ergo shape bars but I don't think the top is mean't to be horizontal. Also regarding tan wall tyres have a look at Panaracer pasela's, apparently they are OK skidding. For road use I would suggest 23c or 25c; 20c on the back would not be comfortable on the road.

  • ild get 23/25s front, 25/28s back, and increase the front clearance by the ole ball bearing trick of putting a ball bearing between axle and forktip.
do remember to fasten well but used since early this century. would make it much more comfortable.

also, bard should indeed be tilted forward. getting some dummy levers would addd a sensible extra handposition

  • Ive got Pasela's on the Pompino, havent skidded through it yet.

  • To be honest, I've realised I'm just too slow without a brake, much quicker/confident with one on so need a new set of forks.

    My options are pretty much.

    1. Drill current forks/file top of crown to fit 23C and find a gran compe aero brake.
    2. Grab some steel road forks
    3. Grab some carbon road forks
    4. Get some steel forks made up to match the current forks but to fit 23C and with a brake hole/long enough brake drop
  • So, did the silly thing and bought something nice and shiny.

Have to say, the thread's now looking to be not just the Harry Quinn, will put a namechange request in.

Condor 753 frame+forks and it's absolutely lush. Transferred some of the bits from the Harry Quinn on to it including an omamori from Kyoto. I've been riding it for the last couple of days and it's totally brilliant, possible the best ride quality I've had yet.

In light of pretty much deciding the Condor is aaaawesome, I'm selling the Harry Quinn and Dura Ace wheels that came with the Condor, give me a shout if you're interested.

  • That Condor looks saweeet. /envy

  • I really wanted that condor but finances didn't allow. Absolutely banging frame, just perfect. Give me a heads up if you get bored with it if you would, although I suspect it's a keeper.

  • I'll give you a shout if I'm shifting it but..... dude, it's lovely, definitely right about it being a keeper.

Doing a bit of cleaning today, and putting some loooovely new wheels on, first thing is cleaning!

  • First wheel done! New bearings, new Dura-Ace grease, spinning nice and smooth.

  • Did you buy them from a lad on fb? From hull or around there?

  • Nope, came with the bike! Was planning on selling them but couldn't be arsed building up the planned new wheelset/these were just too nice.

    Why'd you ask?

Unless it was someone on the Manchester group, in which case, that was me, just decided to keep 'em.

  • Just done the front wheel and build it up after a quick wipe down. Just as the sun was setting as well!

Need to get some proper pics at some point but these should do for the meantime.

  • Really lovely frame, good job!

  • Ok, might have lied. Currently building up a new wheelset because I secretly reeeeally wanted silver rims.

First wheel laced, just front to lace and time to true them both!

  • Built both wheels and been riding on them. They've already gone a bit gritty, but mostly to do with the shite weather I suppose.

Changed up the saddle to see if I get on better with this than the turbo. Also, considering some Bullhorns for city riding, bit easier on the hands.

  • Grabbed a few nice pictures today pissing around with an SLR, planning to put some bulls on it, found drops without hoods is a little uncomfy, so switching these bars and stem over to the 'Nago.

  • Actually took it for pictures OUTSIDE and everything. Sunny day, people in the way but had some odd looks in the middle of Heaton Park.

  • Swapping this out for the DA seatpost/Ponza saddle back.

Polish is causing the Super Record seatpost to slip like fuck unfortunately. Anyone got any tips for stopping that? Roughing it up a little maybe?

Anyhow, got some Nitto Noodles that I'm putting on with hoods, just realised hoods and drops are probably the best for this.
