  • Pics of custom extras please.

Soon. (When I have the stuff that is meant to fill them to hand).

    Anyhow. Today I fitted in:
    Bike bits:
    1 lock+ extender cable.
Full puncture repair kit, plus my topeak road morph pump of epic proportions.
5 lights (2 front 3 rear- it gets dark here)

    Clothes:
    Running shoes
    Work shoes
    Trousers
    4 work shirts
    2 T-shirts
4 pairs underwear and 5 pairs socks
Running top, under layer and shorts
    Ski softshell.

    Work Stuff:
    1 textbook.
    1 A4 notepad.
    iPad
And a shit tonne of pens, keycards, my wallet, iPhone, and other necessary crap.

Held up to the 20+ mile commute nicely, if a little heavy.

  • saw one of these in the flesh day before yesterday. Extremely tempted.

    Do it.

I crammed a huge sack of cat food, two ten inch pizzas, two bags of pasta, a bag of rice, a big bottle of jack, four pints of milk, two one litre cartons of oj, two jars of pasta bake, a jar of pasta sauce, big block of cheese, some yogurts, fruit and veg, a frozen apple pie and still had room to spare. That was including my tool roll, mini pump, and ulock. It was also pissing itself down with rain and this bag is seriously water tight.

    I think im sold.

  • Just got my Daysack - Brilliant! Used for the commute today, fitted everything with no issues and felt good on the back. Carried a medium sized intuos (graphics tablet), shoes, shirt, tools, jacket, 2 d locks - side pockets are perfect for this, plus various other flotsam. Brilliant bag that's well designed and made. The narrow design is favourable to my MW Rambler as that often feels a bit wide and the top corners obscure peripheral vision when shoulder checking.

Wish I did think to get a laptop sleeve too, just forgot to ask about it. Oh well. Maybe this could be an option when ordering through the site?

    So Daysack - do recommend.

  • I've commented on this thread many times already but I just wanted re-iterate that this suits me perfectly as my daily commute bag. The narrow profile is excellent. It keeps it snug to my back and out my vision when looking behind.
I was always anti backpacks as I thought they would rock when riding but this little baby doesn't move an inch.
Also, lots of friends have commented on the the build quality, being excellent obviously.

  • Have you considered/would you consider adding some MOLLE (or PLCE I guess) strips a la http://www.karrimorsf.com/predator/item/140-predator-30-lightweight-day-pack.html ?

It might be useful for sticking on other things if you need them (I know they make some MOLLE hydration things for example).

    Is it too fascist-military-commando-prepper-militia-prepare-for-The-War-EOTWAWKI-SHTF-bugout-baggy?

  • I hope it's ok, but I put your name forward to one of my bosses....I'm a firefighter, and on our recent trauma refresher, the instructor was having a bit of a moan as the suppliers of our kit bags no longer makes them....he has sourced what he believes to be the best alternative, but it doesn't take all of our kit, specifically the AED (defibrillator). I showed him your site, and mentioned the fact that you do custom stuff and he seemed interested. It's obviously early days in his thought process, and might not amount to anything, but we would need about 40 of them if they decide that's the way forward....would this be something that you could potentially do?

I like this idea. It doesn't have to look too fascist-military-commando-prepper-militia-prepare-for-The-War-EOTWAWKI-SHTF-bugout-baggy, GORUCK pull it off well.

  • I like that too, the writing gets a little "..." but toward the bottom in particular he shows how versatile that webbing is. Especially with the lock (and helmet) securing improvisation. I also like the idea of MOLLE on the shoulder straps, i didn't think of that, but it would make sense (easier way to secure a phone pouch or tamari almonds pouch or etc.)

I've done MOLLE packs in the past.

My bags are pretty heavily military inspired so I'm not afraid of using anything that channels that kind of design!

I entertain nearly all requests so it's just an email away. MOLLE is great, but it's fairly time consuming without a dedicated bartacker so I tend to only do it on request.

It's definitely something I can look at, just shoot me an email through the site or at info@bigxtop.com

    Thank you!

  • Hi Jordan, what's the current lead time on these roughly? Really desperate for a new bag, and loving the look, capacity and price of these!

Also, how much extra to add a laptop sleeve (to fit 13 inch macbook).

I bought a pair of your foot straps last summer, was well pleased with them, thanks!

  • Any update on tool roll?

  • Sounds like turnaround is going to be the full 10 days at the moment. Despite my immediate need, it's clearly going to be worth the wait. Order placed.

  • got my daysack before christmas and took it skiing with me. Perfect daysack, plenty of room for those purposes (ski daysack and general holiday bag to have extra jumper/book/sandwiches in. Looks great v comfy and good to ride with aswell

  • Any update on tool roll?

Very interested in a tool roll aswell!

  • I was meaning to post when I got mine which I did a few weeks ago. So fully stoked! Someday I may put an ice axe in there, but for now they are fashion loops ;)

  • I've had my messenger bag for about 10 months now, its been used daily rain or shine.

Its not leaked once and is still in great condition, almost looks like new despite the daily commute.

Still happy with my purchase nearly one year on...

  • ^^ Fuck I want that exact bag.

  • That bag was a blast. Thanks for the continued support everybody. All custom requests are considered, just an email (info@bigxtop.com) or a PM away

  • What size is that bag?

  • I am 6'1 with a long torso. It comes to a little above my waist. I think Jordan told me it holds somewhere around 35L. It's enough for a jacket, some groceries, a laptop and a few bike tools. Sometimes I attach a little MOLLE drop pouch on the side which increases things.

  • BUMP

Got my rucksack through the post yesterday. Jordan was great, he made some alterations to the bag for me. It's really nicely made. I am really happy with it and I couldn't recommend Bigxtop enough.
    Thanks Jordan!

  • Oh yeah I got a tool roll too and that is sweet too!
