  • I have the DeFeet Duraglove Wool and the Rapha Merino Gloves.

The Merino Gloves are completely glorious. The most comfortable gloves I've ever used, and the best Rapha gloves I've tried. Work exactly as described, perfect for chilly mornings, without getting too sweaty when it warms up a bit.

The DeFeets work, and they're warmer (and more sweaty) but because they're less structured (they're just all knitted) they move around a lot more. They don't have any palm padding either, just a grippy print. Having said that, for the money, they're great and I do use them.

The one potential weakness the Merino Gloves have is that the merino on the back is thin and smooth, and seems like it might be vulnerable to being snagged. I haven't damaged mine yet but a couple of times I've brushed the back of my hand against a wall or bush and thought 'oh bollocks'. And they are, of course, pricey.
