• One of my drivers just called in a fatality on The blackfriars / fleet street interchange. Construction vehicle involved. Blanket over the rider.
Can anyone confirm any more detail?
    Hands are shaking typing this.

  • i walked past it 20 minutes ago - must have just happened and it looked really bad. they were just putting a blanket over. hands also shaking.

  • RIP rider. A black day.

  • Fuck.
    Fucking fuck.
Look at the size of that wagon.

    RIP rider.
My heart goes out to everyone who loved and was loved by you.

  • RIP rider. well said wjprince.

  • Ugh. Had a very close call with a lorry very similar to that also on Fleet Street last year and stopped commuting that way. It's a horrible stretch of road which pays little mind to the joke that is the cycle path along there.

Too, too sad. RIP cyclist :(

  • The sooner those types of trucks are banned from Central London, the better. How many more tragedies like this will it take for the powers to be to realise that they're just too deadly?

    RIP Rider.

  • Trucks in London >>>

    RIP rider.

  • RIP rider, black day. so disturbing to see (again) on junction I navigate twice a day...

  • RIP. awful news.

  • The sooner those types of trucks are banned from Central London, the better. How many more tragedies like this will it take for the powers to be to realise that they're just too deadly?

Absolutely, even if not at rush hour. The way I used to see them thunder over Southwark Bridge towards a shitty junction is another reason I switched up my route to work.

I hate the feeling of "there but for the grace of God go I" - and having to check it wasn't a loved one when I hear about these things. And then realising someone else is going to be getting some absolutely horrific news soon. Breaks my tiny heart.

  • RIP.

Jeeeez. Terrible news. I'm not on twitter, how big was the truck? Artic?

  • Damn - just around the corner from where I work. RIP rider

The hairs on the back of my neck are standing up,

  • RIP.

Jeeeez. Terrible news. I'm not on twitter, how big was the truck? Artic?

    The Twitter image is here:

It's being used by news sources (ITV London).

  • RIP rider. Thoughts are with your loved ones.

Always horrible to see the black logo but even worse on a route you use every day.

  • I work just down the road.
    Fucked up. RIP

  • Totally awful. RIP.

  • Terrible news. That whole junction, whether it's for cyclists or pedestrians, is dangerous and one I avoid.

My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this poor cyclist.

  • Oh no.
    Such horrible horrible news.
I cycle through that intersection every day.

I barely have any words for this.

My thoughts and condolences are with the rider's friends and family.

  • these left hook deaths are entirely preventable. camden is about to install this:

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/londons-first-segregated-cycle-junction-to-be-installed-in-camden-9234680.html

let's work for similar safe junctions on all london's main roads. rip.

  • No words really.

    RIP x

  • God Damn it! Fuck this.

  • Terrible news. RIP rider
