2014-04-03 - Rider Down/Fatality, Farringdon St junction with Fleet Street

One of my drivers just called in a fatality on The blackfriars / fleet street interchange. Construction vehicle involved. Blanket over the rider.
Can anyone confirm any more detail?

Ugh. Had a very close call with a lorry very similar to that also on Fleet Street last year and stopped commuting that way. It's a horrible stretch of road which pays little mind to the joke that is the cycle path along there.

Too, too sad. RIP cyclist :(

The sooner those types of trucks are banned from Central London, the better. How many more tragedies like this will it take for the powers to be to realise that they're just too deadly?

Absolutely, even if not at rush hour. The way I used to see them thunder over Southwark Bridge towards a shitty junction is another reason I switched up my route to work.

I hate the feeling of "there but for the grace of God go I" - and having to check it wasn't a loved one when I hear about these things. And then realising someone else is going to be getting some absolutely horrific news soon. Breaks my tiny heart.

Terrible news. That whole junction, whether it's for cyclists or pedestrians, is dangerous and one I avoid.
