I don't believe it's "hipster aesthetics". I just don't like the look of the straight stem. It probably fits the owner fine and rides great.

Yes it was the tubeless aspect that interested me.. Not many tubeless ready cx tyres available :(

If you're thinking of running ~2bar, it's well worth discovering the difference between true Tubeless equipment and so-called 'tubeless-ready' - lots of rims with bead shelves seem to be devoid of the really important part of the official UST spec, a bead retaining lip inboard of the bead seat. Zinn has been on the case for a while, but unscrupulous manufacturers are still getting away with selling dangerous products to an unsuspecting public.
