It is with a heavy heart that I am selling my beautiful burgundy Bob Jackson. The honest truth is we simply drifted apart. I bought a shiny modern racing bike a year and a half ago and like an adulterer leaving his childhood sweetheart for a younger mistress, we now sleep in separate rooms.
I bought the frame and forks here and built it up as my daily commuter. It did a good year's service as my day to day before being usurped by the racing bike and falling into disrepair. About six months ago, the guilt got the better of me and I took it to the guys at Full City for an overhaul in the hope that I could save our faltering relationship. Unfortunately the two bikes are just too similar and I found that in spite of my investment, I still never took it out.
So here it is, hopefully soon to be in the care of a better owner.
Frame
Bob Jackson Supreme. ST: 56cm c-c 58cm c-t / TT: 56cm c-c. Red to burgundy fade, tasty yellow lug lining. Chrome Campagnolo dropouts. Investment cast BB shell. I have it on good faith that it was built in the late 80s. There are a few scuffs and scrapes all over unfortunately, mainly from locking up. I can provide better photos if necessary. For full disclosure, the main job I asked of the Full City guys was to remove a seized seat post — as a testament to how dedicated those guys are, they took it down to Argos in Bristol to make sure it was done properly. Thankfully it came out with sheer determination and no need for any drastic measures. There is also some slight deterioration on the chrome around the fork crown which was there when I bought the frame.
Groupset
Shimano Sante. I've seen it referred to as the 'campest groupset of all time', possibly due to the unique pearlescent finish. Biopace chainrings and 'aero' brake calipers. Unfortunately the rear mech was knackered and had to be changed out by the guys at Full City.
Wheels
Shimano 105 hubs laced to kinlin x300 rims - 3 cross f&r and 32h
• Cinelli XA stem (I think?), black, 120mm
• Cinelli Campione del Mondo bars, 40cm
• Cinelli Unicantor saddle (with a slight tear unfortunately, not irreparable though)
• Condor pedals, clips and straps. Brands new, basically unused (as part of the effort to relight my fire for this bike)
• Double Gatorskins, 23mm
If you need any other information, happy to try and answer.
