Have a mid 1970s Crescent MCB Pepita Special
Spec: Super Vitus 971 DB tubing, Nuovo Record derailleurs, Nuovo Tipo hubs, Brooks saddle, Stronglight crankset, Cinelli bars+stem. All the chrome Campag cable guides still present and in good condition.
Guessing it's pretty much all original apart from a Shimano 5spd freehub, and some SR pedals and seatpost I added. Paintwork is decent nick for age, doesn't appear to have done many miles at all.
Any ideas what it's worth, and where would be a decent place to put it up for sale?

A friend wants to sell this, how much is it likely to sell for? Cinelli Volare SLX. I understand that they are pretty rare.

So, I have a 1979 Carlton Grand Prix frame in my garage, that I bought, planning on it being a project. I have around £200 worth of decent parts that I could put on it to build up a nice single-speed or fixed gear out of it, minus a wheel-set and a bottom bracket that fits.
I'd be looking to get a respray (which I guess would be around £100) because the frame is just unreasonably tatty, as well as some 27 inch wheels similar to those on my fixed gear, which cost me around £120 if I remember correctly. I've also seen cheaper 27 inch single speed wheels for around half that.
Is this frame worth spending £100 on respraying, plus putting £350 worth of parts on?
If I was to spend £450 on this restoration, would I actually stand to make that back if I ever sold it on? -

you'd never make it back, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. Is that a 531 model or gas pipe? Gas pipe isn't worth respraying. Better to spend the £100 on a better frame

It's tru-wel, which was, I believe, a TI/Raleigh/Carlton proprietary tubing. Unfortunately, I know nothing else about it, other than it's not quite as light as 531. I'm not sure it quite falls into the gas-pipe category, but is it that bad? -

i'd probably still say spend the money on a nice frame. Lots to be had for £100

That's what I guessed. I mean, to be honest, it's probably a touch big, it's a 22 inch frame and my inside leg is 30 inches, so swapping for something a little smaller might be needed anyway!

Right, I'll sell the frame.

How tall are you?
-
• #1562
I think I'm about 5'6" or 5'7", but to be honest, I really don't know. The frame is for sale now anyway.

53ish cm frame needed then

I also got a Carlton with TI tubings (Ti is/was the company that was being Raleigh when they bought Carlton and tried to push their tubing on lower models)
Albeit not light, my Carlton is still a lovely ride. I actually used her yesterday for a long ride from Epping Forest down to leafy Twickenham and today on the commute to work in Chiswick. So it might be worth putting it back, without spending that much money on it.
I will not respray mine, for example, as I love the vintage patina it gives to the bike.
But if the frame is too big, then try to put it back in working order and sell it, you might be able to sell it complete for £150? It all depends on components.

These wheels came with a bike I just bought. Was thinking of using them for training but have since realised how expensive nice tubs actually are! Could anyone give me an idea of how much they are worth? They are Mavic Mach 2CD rims laced to Campagnolo Croce d' Aune hubs. The block is a 7 speed. They've seen use but the braking surfaces are barely touched and the hubs spin smoothly.

Dolan Pre Cursa. Open Pros on custom sealed hubs, Panaracer Paselas, Velosolo bolt on cog, Shimano square taper chainset, MKS GR9s.
Will have nicer shape bars, track grips, Ballistic CNC black stem instead of Azonic and Selle Italia XO saddle.

Nice wheels but for a seller, unfortunately, not horribly valuable. Mach 2CD rims are a kind of double whammy: tubular and one of the less desirable rims. The hubs are very nice but much less sought after than Record. With a 130mm OLD and 7 speeds they are damned to downtube shifters but demand modern rears--- classic frames were 126mm (6 and 7 speed) or 120mm (though 5 speed) spaced. Its really something for a late 1980s bike that did not want to cross into 8 speeds... 8 speed freewheels were commonly available for the hub but a lot of people found reliability less than ideal. For the "right" bicycle they are quite a sexy collectors item. You just need to find that "collector". Lacking that collector the probable price would be lower for the wheels than the hubs alone.. and the hubs alone would not fetch terribly much.. KEEP the wheels. Keep them with the bicycle you got. Its probably the "right" bicycle. Get tubular tyres.

Shimano 600 arabesque groupset without headset, seatpost & pedals?
Nearly nothing. Large supply and almost no demand. Loads of middle class bicycles outfitted with the group are rotting away in people's basements.. and those that have emerged over the past few years have had their groups shed and been converted to SS with their parts slumbering in boxes...

Hi all, would be great if you could give me your opinions on a selling price for my bike. It's a BH roadzone, size 56, Ultegra shifters and rear derailleur, 105 front, San Marco saddle, ITM bars etc.
It's not in bad condition but in no way perfect. Paint chips to the frame (presumably from a D lock), mixed parts etc but rides fairly nicely.

Some demand is there :)
How much would it cost? As I might be interested in it.

Shimano 600 arabesque groupset without headset, seatpost & pedals?
actually desirable because of the design flourishes for ladies bikes especially. Always sells well. 80-100 depending on condition, wheels 70 if you have them.

if you post pictures we can give a value
Anyone hazard a guess as to what my 12 month old Jamis beatnik is worth? It's in good order but the top tube has a few marks in it from being locked up- that asides it's in good shape..
