Apologies for the REALLY late reply but there's something new on the plate!
We waited so long 'cause we were trying to find a solution - courts dimensions speaking.
Last weekend we hosted the 10th edition of Mazza d'Oro, 36 Italian teams in 4 court located in three different places in Vicenza. We played the finals (32 double eliminations) at Pomari, our new two courts, Vicenza bike Polo home. This was a test for EHBPC 2014. While the 40X20 is perfect, the 34X18 is really too small.
The other place we had considered, San Giuseppe, is good for the qualification but not good enough for the finals because it doesn't offer a good view for the spectators, and there is no room for gazebos and tents for our side activities.
For all of these reasons, we are back to an old idea: Move EHBPC 2014 from Vicenza to Padova.
The plan is to move the whole location to the Padova bike polo location: they have two awesome outdoor hockey rinks in the middle of the city, where we did the first edition of Polorama, in 2012. This is the perfect location for the finals, 40x20, super grippy, high boards, well-lighted, perfect visibility from outside and enough room to host side activities.
It will be in the same weekend, so don't worry if you've already booked your trip, Padova is 30km from Vicenza and the connection airports are the same: Venice or Verona.
Padova Bike Polo (Rode) did Polorama first edition, in collaboration with us, back in 2012; also they did an awesome job last September with the first edition of MACRO, a big international tournament, a really awesome job!
We'll organize EHBPC 2014 with them.
At the moment we got two 4 courts options ( and two 3 courts options:
four 40x20 high wood walls courts inside the Padova Fair buildings, for rounds; the final day at PBP's place.
two 40x20 big wood walls courts inside Padova Fair building, two at Padova Bike Polo place, for rounds; PBP's place for the finals. The two locations are 4,5km one from the other. (2+2 courts)
Two courts at PBP place, one 40X20 big wood walls court at Prato della Valle, really close to the PBP courts (600m). We are in touch with Padova city council to have the permission to build it (2+1 courts).
Two courts at PBP place, one big wood walls courts 3km far from PBP place on a cement flat inside a park (2+1 courts)
Option 1 is all indoor, option 2 is half indoor half outdoor, 3 and 4 are all outdoor.
Wednesday we'll have a final meeting with Padova city council, after that we can confirm the Prato della Valle option. Prato della valle is an ancient square, one of the biggest in Europe, downtown Padova. The surface is tar newly made.
We've already started working with EHBPA for slot assignations.
Big developments to the 2014 EHBPC.
