That doesn't mean I don't think its an excellent frame. The cost is not the point. As built by me its the bike I enjoy riding the most.
-

^^ also surely the principle remains the same even if it is rare ie a hole should be drilled.
-
• #3654
The holes are there to alleviate issues of air expansion during frame construction surely.
No, when the frame is being made the massive holes you screw the bb into, headset holes ect are all holes still. Air doesn't expand like crazy or anything anyways.
Looks like I'll be extracting the plugs this weekend. Still virtually in tears at the thought of a drill bit contacting my frame.
Why don't they put a hole in the BB shell in the first place? I know some manufacturers do, but they are in the minority.
It takes time/money and making your frame last longer might put you off upgrading/renewing.

Is it considered anti to use bullhorn with the pompino ?
I need more opinions on that one :D

• #3656
It depends on how you do it.
There's only about 3 nice looking Pomps in the history of this thread though.

Thinking of getting a pompetamine, if anyone has a black one in medium or large lettuce know.

At a guess, the white one with purple tape, dron's, the grey one with mudguards, the white one with yellow tape, and my personal favourite... the stars and stripes build

I do like those ^ but mine would have been (in no particular order)
- Upstart's raw one which andytk linked to above (http://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=1323&pictureid=16216)
- The much loved "Grey one" (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2756/4417874883_b1cb72a2f5_b.jpg)
- Mr B (another effing Pompino) http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7426/10618438754_7cf1d212e4_o.jpg

All strong choices, I think my favourite is Mr B's, followed by upstarts.

My pomp in camping out tonight mode.

Interestingly two of those "best pomp" pics were taken in front of the Hollywood sign.

Is the Bontrager Race Lite CX Fork a worthwhile upgrade for the new 2014 pomp frameset or a waste of money?
-
• #3673
That black-chrome powdercoat one fucking rocks. When I was building mine, I had a few 'inspiration' pics saved. Most if not all are from this forum. Plenty of ace Pomps on here.
By the way, the two Hollywood sign pics are of the same bike (mine). White with purple tape was the initial build, but I quickly grew to hate cloth tape (even with Fizik Bar Gel under it)!

A good fork is a good fork. Whether it's the right rake/trail/length for the Pomp, I don't know.
Personally though, I think these frames are worth whatever upgrades you want to throw at them. They're brilliant. I hope the 2014 one is as good as the old version. -

The white one with camp tape is awesome too, if someone can dig out a picture of that

I found this colour-matched frame/rack combo on either here or flickr which is inspiring my upcoming revamp.
It's gonna be fug.
It's a Pompino, not some kind of rare Japanese wank.
