Considering the cost of a re-spray, MIGHT be you could lower it a bit? Also consider Retrobike is doesn't sell here.
As you said, albeit not 531, Tru-wel still rides great and I can see that whenever I pick mine (which I plan to bring to L'Eroica Britannia as well!)
I like that your forks still have the 'plug' (?) for the dinamo lamp! Mine has been cut away :(
