  • I'm hoping some of the collective wisdom of the forum might be able to help with advice on a new bike quandry.

My wife is taking part in the Celtman Ironman this year and considering buying a new bike for it. Set in Torridon up in Scotland, the terrain is understandably quite windswept, hilly and with some fairly winding sections on the road. That said, it does also have some flatter sections on it as well as some long running descents. That means that neither a full on aero TT machine or a road bike set up solely for climbing fits the bill for the full course. Also, at 120 miles, comfort will be an issue.

Considering that, what sort of bike do you recommend. Feel free to talk, materials, geometry, handlebars or anything and your reasoning behind it. All good advice is gratefully received. Examples of OTP frames and set ups would be useful.
