Out, keen to read the reviews. Let me know if the route would be navigable at night assuming a daylight start with c.2hours of twilight.
I'm thinking mini deluxe.

as long as you get through the first 10 or so miles which is a bit convoluted the rest is all just canal path
navigable by a blind one legged octogenarian just as long as you keep the water on your leftare you really ready for riding howard ? thats a quick heal
i'll check the wind direction maybe we could do it thames to source if the wind is blowing that way -

If Indra can ride with a busted clav then I won't let a glitchy wrist stop me :)

Cycled up from Bow to Roydon (on the Stort) last monday. Surface on the Lea is very good these days, no issues on 28c and sure 25's would be just fine. A fair bit of the Stort towpath is unmade but still fine and feels like (almost) proper countryside. Fish and Eels at Hoddeson is worth a stop too for river side ale supping

yup the chances of rain tomorrow are high so might put this on hold
i'll keep an eye on the forecast next week and keep the thread bumped and updated
will give howard another few days to strengthen further -

i once did it the other way round. just rode a track bike with 23c. all easy enough.

I will be running the Brighton off-road again this year - probably on the most historically statistically dry weekend of the year.
Would love to do this but would rather wait for the summer* months.
*75% of some German scientists think 2014 will be hottest on record for UK..

cool
i was thinking about the route
it's probably better to train out and cycle back
it's nice just to be able to ride right to your own home after a ride when knackered rather than dither round at a train station and getting all stiff on the train
therefore i suggest we meet up, not too early at st pancras ( 10 - ish ) and grab a train to either luton central or leagrave ( the source as seen below ) and take it from there
the luton section is tricky as it runs through underground channels and culverts. it pops up every now again so it is followable
once we get to the river proper south of luton it is simple to follow with a bit of hedge hopping and field traversing
obvs a couple of pub stops along the way, hadn't planned on stopping for lunch, but there are a good few pubs if the mood takes us -
• #47
I'll ride out, so let me know what time you are planning on getting to Luton station :)
-
• #48
bump
tomorrow
leaving st pancras at 10 ish luton leagrave for 11.30 then ride to london -
