survey

  • hey guys i study graphic design and i'm planning on doing an info graphic on what distances people commute everyday on their bikes, so i thought what better place to ask! i would be grateful for and contribution :)

  • I'm sure there's a survey on this out there already somewhere?

  • you can set up a poll like this http://www.lfgss.com/poll88.html

personally 10 miles a day (5*2) if I go straight home after work

  • i think i should of been more pacific i really am looking at city commuters to form the distances covered in each city with a graphic. Each person representing a piece of the graphic for each city, the distance equalling how big the piece. sorry if thats confusing haha

  • if you want more credible data than you'll get asking on here, i'm sure TfL and/or LCC (london cycling campaign) will have some figures for london. actually that prob wouldn't have inividual data points though, just totals, averages, stats by borough maybe. guess that doesn't fit your graphic so well

  • ok cheers for your help ill have a ask about :)

  • i think i might be asking alot anyway haha

  • I assume you mean specific rather than "pacific".

20 miles each way with an average of 3 times per week.

  • Its being done on many of the sustrans paths to evaluate the money spent on getting people to work and at what time. Deeside industrial estate Queensferry has a few dotted about and i understand Birkenhead docks also has them (well hidden anyway).

4 1/2 miles in 20 miles home daily everyday rail hail wind snow ice fog darkness sunsets.

  • strava is good for this kind of stuff, you can search under the word or type of ride "commute" and it gives you GPS data.
(This isn't mine) but is an example
