Could only see a hoodie from inside as the cafe windows are quite high up. By the time I got outside all I could see was the back of him.
The hoodie appeared to be white or at least light coloured and dark trousers.
I was in a cafe in west london last night for about an hour and when I went outside I saw someone had locked their bike to mine and the street rail. They had used one of those kryptonite plastic with metal wiring inside type cords and it looked harder to lock my bike than to avoid it.
I asked all the people in the cafe and none of then came forward. One would only park their bike there if they were going to the cafe.
Luckily some police were walking past and I engaged them. Nonetheless they stated they couldn't do anything anyway. But they did take a good look for about 10 minutes.
At this point the owner of the cafe agreed to hold on to the bike if I cut the lock and as I was on the phone to a locksmith the owner of the bike run over from wherever he was unlocked and cycled away pretty fast. Annoying as I was just about to lock my bike to his.
Is this a know tactic by thieves?
I assume he was hoping I would take a bus home and come back the next day leaving him all night to cut my lock.
