I did google short john, thanks. Couldn't seem to find much in the way of availability or where to buy.

That Soma frameset looks excellent. Only problem is the stand-over height which must be low enough for my wife to use as well. This may be a bit of a problem as I need a bike that's going to be big enough for me (6'3") and also easliy rideable for her (5'4"). Max stand-over height she can sensibly handle is 29". I was hoping for something we could just adjust the saddle height with a QR whenever the other needs to ride it. So, still looking. Am I going to have to get one custom built?

Had this in the workshop today, bakfeits with really solid steering , light enough and folds in half to save space

Looks like the ones that are on ebay for £600. Don't think they fold though but the seat tube area is the same.
