Hi, similar issue - I am building a new single speed and have a Mavic Ellipse for the rear wheel. The rear hub on the Mavic is a fixed / fixed ( despite saying flip flop) however I want to fit my free wheel. The freewheel I have screws onto the Mavic and lines up against the chain nicely.
My only concern is that the width of thread available on the Mavic is less than the freewheel - in other words the freewheel only screws onto the Mavic about 4.5 turns before tightening and is held on by about 75% of the available thread on the freewheel.
It is held nice and tight against the wheel and I see on google that you can run a freewheel with a ellipse.
Does anyone think this could be risky or shear off the thread as I am not fully using all the thread available on the freewheel when tightening?
