  • The person makes it.

  • ^ Do you cycle and shoot at the same time?

  • No, but I have developed nifty footwork. And tolerance from the players having me on court.

  • Went to the abandoned Putney Hospital that was mentioned by someone a few pages back. Really cool place!

  • Nice! I like the processing too.

Think I found out why my embedded photos were getting knocked back to Thumbnails. Size! Some subjects deserve more than 640 pixels.....

  • Mr AJ. As far as I'm aware, 1024 Longest is largest image you can embed. I dig big iamges, but unless you're running 30" screen, it's kinda pointless.

A massive thanks to Ben. Dem mojo is back. Being able to shoot without stopping is a godsend.

  • Yeah, go big or go home!!

Seriously though, this forum resizes huge ass pictures, and I think it makes sense, especially for portrait formats.
I don't know how big your screen is, but what's the point if an image is much bigger than the srceen?

  • Mr Jones, also consider easing up on the extreme PP.

  • 'merica.

  • I'm using a 27" screen. I have been uploading at the max which is 2047 and never thought that was that big as the dng's are around 6000 on one edge! I will scale it back and embed them. All the same there is a big loss in quality but a picture should have more to it than pixel power alone.

Bored of the sooc look. Not much post on the last one anyway. I can understand the wet plate conversions are not for everyone but I liked the effect on the clouds in the statue one.

  • Fair enough, just my uninformed opinion anyway.

  • Very true detective

  • I think my DSLR has finally given up the ghost after 3 owners and about 8 years.

The mirror won't flip to take a shot, considering they only sell for about £80 in working used condition it's probably not going to be worth getting it repaired.

Now I'm left with the choice up buying something similar or upgrading.

I use a 35mm eos slr too so have a few lenses and would quite like to stick with them, I like the idea of going full frame so I don't notice the big difference in focal length when switching between film and digital with the same lenses.

I'm thinking about trying to find a 5d mki for cheap, any opinions?

    Cheers

  • 5D mk1 is a fantastic camera if you don't mind the size. It was too big for my liking, but boy the images that comes out of it are great

  • It's worth getting the battery grip btw, makes it great to handle. But even bigger.

  • Just what I wanted to hear, I won't find the size limiting I don't think because as it is I only used the DSLR when I was going out specifically to take pictures. If I'm just out and about I have a point and shoot in my pocket.

Looks like I'll try and get one then, my thinking was that having an older full frame camera would be more useful than a modern, lower end, crop sensor one although video would be a bonus if I went that route.

  • The downsides with the 5D mk1 as I saw it was high iso and lack of video. I never really missed video, but it goes quite grainy over iso 400-800. That said, it's nice film-like grain so it doesn't ruin any photos.

  • on the subject of grain i've recently upgraded to a nikon D800 and i've never ever ever been happier with a digital camera, ive been pushing its ISO loads (this was shot at 2000) and i think the grain looks really nice, its allowing me to shoot a lot more situations in natural light!
