Just got in from Swinley, top buzz.
I was thinking on the trail of maybe organising a two day thing with camping at Runway's End. If people could only make one of the days that'd be cool too.
The Saturday could be a leisurely start, setting up camp and then ride the local trails near me and Runway's End. There's more than enough there to fill a whole day, loads of XC stuff. A cross bike would probably work ok. We could hire the fire pit for the evening again or maybe hit up a curry house and pub.
Sunday morning could be a cooked camp breakfast and then I could chuck the bikes into the back of the van and take a crew down to Swinley. The trails there can get pretty full on so I'd recommend a mountain bike with at least front suspension, although I was riding rigid there up until a few weeks ago. I reckon you'll struggle with a cross bike though.
There is a hire centre there and I think this week they've just taken delivery of some new cannondales. Maybe if people were interested we could reserve them. It would be a pretty solid weekend of riding so some competency is preferred.
A few of you have expressed interest, I guess we just need to pick a date and check it's ok with Runway's End. Failing that we could always do some sneaky wild camping.
26th / 27th July?

Does £450 seem alright for my 456, maybe £400?
-
• #42
I think that's a fair price considering the forks and groupset alone, yeah.
I really want it man, I would also love to help you get to europe. But I went to the dentist this morning and I need some expensive work. I alos bought new spectacles last month. It doesn't rain but it pours, when you're #funemployed

Well £450 would probably pay for everything. A better run down of parts follows:
On-One 456 evo frame in raw 16".
Rock Shox pike 454 coil forks with u-turn adjustable travel (95-140mm)
Hope mono-mini brakes - Not sure if the front needs a service, I cleaned it up, bled it and put new pads in, it feels underpowered but the pads haven't bedded in yet, rear has newish pads too and is sweet, 180 front 160 rear, comes with service tool.
SLX cranks with saint ring.
SLX medium cage rear mech and shifter.
E Thirteen chain device.
Cassette and chain ain't special but haven't seen much use.
Truvativ Hussefelt stem, On-One risers.
System ex seatpost, On-One bignose saddle, DMR seatpost clamp.
Mavic EX721 32h laced to no name maxel front hub and XT rear, these need slightly shorter spokes as I rebuilt them from a nearly new set of wheels on different hubs, they work fine and have stayed true but I reckon they'd be better with shorter spokes and another half a turn or so of tension.
I'll throw in some wellgo flats that shouldn't even be looked at without shin pads or some
Shimano DX M647 for an extra £15
£450. -

If I somehow have the money I would, it's a lot of fun but I hardly ever use the poor thing, I think the only times this year have been down the shops when I feel bad about not using it.
