Looks sort of fun but can see stuff like privacy zones being needed and then how would that even work with the maps having a "nobody lives here, honest" blob on it or what? If I could setup a game with just people I know then it wouldn't be too bad but I can see my friends all being lazy and the game dying after a few days for us.

Good points. We're thinking a lot about what makes it work for someone in a quiet or rural space. Hopefully capturing new bits of land is quite a compelling mechanic, and that alongside moving up the leader board, either among friends or in your area makes the single player game good fun. We'll refine that through play testing though.

We think privacy can work with the invisibility cloak used in applications like strava. A combination of that and privacy settings within the app that let you choose who you share stuff with should help to make that work. It's a priority to get this right for the beta launch, a lot of other apps handle it well, it's just a question of what's best for Run an Empire.
