I assume from the lack of posts saying "there's five we need one more" that there's six and I don't need to worry about being late?

Yeah, remember last week I was saying something was making a strange noise... Recon that was it.
Came off between borough and meeting someone in Russell square, while riding along. Scared the fuck out of me but managed to not impale myself.
Now, how do you get the end of a seat post out of a frame?
-
• #16409
Well, if it's not stuck inside there (fml) there must be some sort of expanding thing you could insert and pull the post out? A star fanged nut might work. Other options include a hacksaw blade inside the post and caustic soda.
-
• #16410
Oo, star tangled nut's a good idea, got a spare one floating around somewhere...
-
• #16411
'Installing' the star nut might push the post in further.
Carbon expander bolt would be best to try first.

I tried pushing it down so I could put what was left of the seat post in to ride to the station, didn't work so doubt a star nut will push it down... Also don't have a carbon expander handy.
Frankly I think I'm going to have to hacksaw it out, but can't hurt to try other things first.

Louis this is the time to build the 14bike

well best procedure would be:
1: Tighten seatclamp bolt (if you loosened it)
2: Hammer in starnut
3: Loosen seatclamp,
4: Spray/soak in releasing agent(s) of your choice
5: insert bolt to starnut, if possible attach bolt to something to give you grip/leverage
6: Pull -

or buy my 14 off me

• #16416
I'll see if I have a carbon expander (doubtful)
-
• #16417
Are you getting a new frame Jimmy?
-
• #16418
depending on how your (well, Max's) Magic turns out, and employment...

or buy my 14 off me
But Louis already has a 14!
-
• #16420
I don't have a carbon expander, I too, only have a starnut.
I'd really try my hardest to avoid hacksaw until you really have to, because it'll take ages and could potentially harm the frame/contaminate the BB.

oh and who is in for this evening btw? Weather looks amaze.

What if you drill a hole in the seat post between the space the frame has were the clamp tight the seat post then put a long bolt true whit a nut then pull out and maybe heat the frame a bit
-
• #16424
Was also thinking that ^ but he'd have to be very accurate with the drill at an awkward place, and it shares the problems with the hacksaw method.
